Dharikshan Mishr (1901-1997) was a Bhojpuri poet and Writer. [1] He was honored with the Bhasa Samman Award in 1996 for his contribution to Bhojpuri literature. [2]

Litterateur and parliamentarian Shankar Dayal Singh was twice elected to the Parliament of India. He was one of the youngest members of the Fifth Lok Sabha, in which he represented the Chatra parliamentary constituency in Bihar. Contesting his maiden Lok Sabha election in 1971, he defeated Smt. Vijaya Raje, the wife of Sri Kamakhya Narayan Singh, Raja of Ramgarh. He was again elected to the upper house, the Rajya Sabha, in 1990 from Bihar.

Rameshwar Singh Kashyap was a Bhojpuri playwright, screenwriter and professor of Hindi at Patna University. He is best known for his Bhojpuri play Loha Singh which was gained immense popularity on Radio in 1970s. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991.

Raghuveer Narayan or Raghubir Narayan was a Bhojpuri and English poet and a freedom fighter. His Bhojpuri poem Batohiya gained popularity equivalent to Vande Mataram and is considered as National Song of Indian in Bhojpuri language.

Batohiya is a Bhojpuri poem written by Raghuveer Narayan in 1911. This Purbi song became very popular and George Abraham Grierson also recorded this song for Linguistic Survey of India in 1920. It has also been called the "Vande Matram" of Bhojpuri. The poem was first published in Raghuveer Patra Pushp.

Teg Ali Teg was a Bhojpuri author and poet. He was from Varanasi and is known for his book Badmash Darpan. He is credited as the first person to write ghazals in Bhojpuri.

Manoranjan Prasad Sinha was a Bhojpuri poet, author and professor and Principal of Rajendra College, Chapra. He is famous for his Bhojpuri poem Firangia, which he wrote in 1921 during Non-cooperation movement. He was also elected as the president of 18th Bihar Hindi Sammelan at Motihari.

Pandey Kapil was a Bhojpuri writer, author and an employee in Rajyabhasha Vibhag in Government of Bihar. He also translated the book Two Months in Arrah written by J. Halls based on the role of Arrah in the Indian Rebellion of 1857.

Krishnadev Prasad Gaud also known as Bedhab Banarasi was an Indian Bhojpuri poet and professor. He was the principal of DAV College Varanasi and the member of State Legislative Council (India) of Uttar Pradesh.

Avinash Chandra Vidyarthi was a Bhojpuri author and poet. He was from Shahpur, near Arrah in Bhojpur District of Bihar. He has contributed significantly to Bhojpuri Literature. He was also one of the editors of Bhikhari Thakur Rachnavali, a compilations of Bhikhari Thakur works.

Khadag Bahadur Malla Pen name, Lal was a Bhojpuri writer, poet, author and journalist and the king of Majhauli Raj in Deoria Uttar Pradesh. He has written Maharasa play which is the dramatic version of Bhagavata Purana. His another notable work is Sudhabund, which is the collection of 60 Kajari songs and was published in 1884.

Prasiddha Narayan Singh was a Bhojpuri writer, poet, and a freedom fighter. He is known for his patriotic and encouraging poems. Jawaharlal Nehru appreciated his poem Jawahar Swagat on his visit of Ballia during the freedom movement.

Badmash Darpan is a Bhojpuri book written by Teg Ali Teg, which is a collection of Bhojpuri Ghazals. The works are centered about the customs and traditions of Benaras.

Naiki Duniya is a Bhojpuri play written by Rahul Sankrityayan in 1942. It was written during the time of world war when Rahul Sankrityayan was in Hazaribagh jail. The play has four acts and promotes the idea of Communism. In this play, a communist society is imagined where every one is equal and there is not any distinction of rich and poor and everyone worships labours. The village is fully developed with all the required facilities.

Dharamdas was an Indian saint, Bhojpuri-Language poet and one of the disciples of Kabir. It is said that after becoming Kabir's disciple, he gave away all his rich possessions.

Vidya Vindu Singh is an Indian author in Hindi and Awadhi languages. She is best known for her broad work in folk and children's literature. Singh has been awarded Padma Shri in 2022 by the Government of India for her contributions in the field of literature & education.
