Television in Poland was introduced on an experimental basis in 1937. It was state owned, and was interrupted by the Second World War in 1939. Television returned to Poland in 1952 and for several decades was controlled by the communist government. Colour television was introduced in Poland in 1971. Private television stations in Poland appeared around the time of the fall of communism, with PTV Echo becoming the first private station in Poland.
Maja Ostaszewska is a Polish actress. She made her screen debut appearing in small role in the 1993 historical drama film Schindler's List, before playing leading role in the drama film The Haven (1998), for which she received Polish Film Festival Award for Best Actress. She received her second Polish Film Festival Award for Best Actress for Prymas – trzy lata z tysiąca (2000). Since then, Ostaszewska appeared in more than 30 motion pictures and received five Polish Academy Award for Best Actress nominations, winning twice: for Jack Strong (2014) and Body (2015).

MasterChef is a Polish television series based on a British television cooking game show under the same title. It premiered on TVN on 2 September 2012. The show is hosted by Magda Gessler, who also hosts a Polish version of Kitchen Nightmares on the same channel. She also serves as the head judge and is joined on the panel by Michel Moran and Anna Starmach. It was broadcast on Sundays; seasons 1–3 were at 8 p.m., while season 4 was at 9:30 p.m.
Medics, also known under the original title Lekarze, is a Polish medical drama which aired from 3 September 2012 to 30 November 2014 on TVN.

The runner-up, folk music band Tekla Klebetnica received the second prize, a car funded by sponsor of the series. Dancer Santiago Gil came third.

The judging panel was extended by winner of the first season Maciej Florek and finalist of the same season Ida Nowakowska, who joined original judges Agustin Egurrola and Michał Piróg. Kinga Rusin didn't return as judge due to her commitments as host of an upcoming series Agent - Gwiazdy, a celebrity version of The Mole on TVN. Patricia Kazadi remains the host of the series.
