Diamond Knot Brewing Company is a brewery and operator of alehouses in Mukilteo, Washington, USA.
Diamond Knot Craft Brewing was established in October 1994 by two Boeing employees. The two handled all production and distribution in the evenings over the first four years out of subleased space in an alehouse. In March 1999, the alehouse was acquired. It was improved to increase capacity to about 1,200 barrels a year. [1] The brewery was not able to meet demand. Capacity was quadrupled in 2005 with the opening of a 4,300-square-foot (400 m2) facility. [2]
According to The Seattle Times, the brewery is "widely regarded as producing some of the best, most innovative beers in the region". [3] The India Pale Ale is the brewery's flagship beer. Diamond Knot has also produced a stronger "Industrial XIPA". The Brown Ale is another popular selection. [4]
Diamond Knot is the first microbrewery in Mukilteo and the oldest in Snohomish County. [1] The original alehouse features stone grill cooking. [5] In addition to the Brewery & Alehouse on the Mukilteo waterfront, the company operates the Brewpub @ MLT in Mountlake Terrace, WA and also the Production Brewery & Taproom in at the company's headquarters.
The brewery was established by Bob Maphet and Brian Sollenberger. The two met at a beer club organized by Boeing employees in Everett, Washington. They kept their day jobs and annual production originally was limited to about 600 barrels. [3] In November 2009, Sollenberger died in an accident at home due to an accident in the wee hours of the night [6] Sollenberger was a Boeing Engineering Manager for the 787 Dreamliner. [7] Another aerospace engineer, Andrew Ong, co-founded 2Brothers Brewery near Melbourne, Australia, after receiving hands-on experience at Diamond Knot. [8] Bob Maphet died on November 10, 2021, after a prolonged illness and complications from surgery. [9]

Deschutes Brewery is a craft brewery in the northwest United States, located in Bend, Oregon. Founded in 1988 as a brew pub, it is known for such products as Black Butte Porter and Mirror Pond Pale Ale. In 2008, the brewery opened a second pub in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon. Deschutes Brewery ships beer to 28 states, the District of Columbia, and around the world from its main brewing facility. The brewery is named after the Deschutes River, which runs through Oregon. As of 2016, Deschutes was the eighth-largest craft brewery and fifteenth-largest overall brewery in the U.S., producing 250,000 US beer barrels (290,000 hL) in 2012.
The Matilda Bay Brewing Company was a West Australian brewery. It was the first new brewery opened in Australia since World War II and Australia's first craft brewery. Originating from small batches brewed for the Sail and Anchor Hotel in 1984, their main brewery opened in 1989 in a prominent building on the Stirling Highway occupied by Ford Motor Company. The company was purchased by Carlton & United Breweries in the early 1990s.
Beer in the United Kingdom has a long history, and has quite distinct traditions. The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) was founded in 1971 and has encouraged the preservation and revival of traditional styles of ale. In particular CAMRA has promoted cask conditioned beer, which completes its maturation in casks in the cellar of the pub rather than at the brewery. As of 2014 the UK drank 634 million imperial pints of cask ale, representing 60% of ale in pubs and restaurants and 17% of all beer in pubs. In total 42.42 million hectolitres of beer were produced in 2013 of which 48% was sold in the off-trade.

The New Albion Brewing Company is known as the first American craft beer brewery. Founded in 1976 by Jack McAuliffe, Suzy Stern, and Jane Zimmerman in Sonoma, California, New Albion is acknowledged as the first United States microbrewery of the modern era, as well as a heavy influence on the subsequent microbrewery and craft beer movements of the late 20th century. A separate production brewery, with canning and bottling lines and a tap room, opened in 2012 about a mile from the brewpub, on Kedzie Avenue in the Avondale neighborhood.
Flounder Brewing Company is a microbrewery in Hillsborough in Somerset County, New Jersey. Started by Jeremy Lees as a homebrewing hobby, it grew to encompass other members of the family including his brothers, Daniel and Michael, and his cousin William. The brewery opened to the public in October 2013, and was first sold to the public at the Fox and Hound Tavern in Lebanon, New Jersey. It was New Jersey's 12th Limited Brewery license and one of the first nano scale breweries in New Jersey, producing an estimated 50 barrels of beer per year.

Whiskey drinking was always a tradition with Guinness from Dublin being a strong influence in the style of beer drunk in the 19th and 20th centuries. Brewing traditions almost ceased to exist as smaller breweries closed, or were taken over, and then the large breweries in turn closed down their facilities. The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) was founded in 1971; however, it was 10 years before the first new brewery, Hilden Brewing, opened its doors.
