Dick Clerkin is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Currin and, previously, at senior level for the Monaghan county team.

He ended 17 years with Monaghan in 2016 as the longest-serving inter-county footballer, with his debut in 1999, with two Ulster Championship medals in his back pocket and two National League Division 2 crowns in his other pocket. All in all he played 179 or 180 appearances for Monaghan (all the reports give different numbers), most of it in midfield, and also played his club football for Currin. [1] He gave his retirement speech to the Irish Examiner , confirming the end of the last player left from the 1990s. [2] [3] [4] [5] His last day out was a qualifier defeat to Longford in 2016. [6]

Clerkin was Monaghan's only winner of an Ulster All-Star in 2010, where he was paired with Ambrose Rogers in midfield. [7]

He left the door open in 2020. There are a lot of other Mones too, Conor and Fergal and Rory. Dessie Mone distinguished himself by getting himself an All-Star nom in 2013. He was a manmarker.

John Paul Mone is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Clontibret O'Neills. He played at senior level for Monaghan and soldiered with his brother Dessie. He won an Ulster Under 21 medal in 1999. He was part of the 2007 crowd that got to Monaghan's first Ulster final since 1988. Lots of other Mones played with him or around the same time as him too, Conor and Fergal and Rory. John Paul Mone was a selector with Clontibret's senior team in 2020.

Vincent "Vinny" Corey is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Clontibret O'Neills. He played at senior level for Monaghan for 17 years and has a couple of Ulster medals in his back pocket. He left the door open in 2020. Corey staretd the 2018 All Ireland semi-final. But he sat out 2011 and was not involved in the 2010 Ulster Final. He was captain in 2009.
