Richard L Williams was a Welsh born Canadian international lawn bowler. [1]
He won a silver medal in the pairs at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver with Sam Gardiner [2] [3] and was the President of the North Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club. [4]
Both he and Sam Gardiner were inducted into the North Shore Sports Hall of Fame in 1968. [4]
He emigrated to Canada at the age of 15. [4]
The 1982 Commonwealth Games were held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia from 30 September to 9 October 1982. The Opening Ceremony was held at the QEII Stadium, in the Brisbane suburb of Nathan. The QEII Stadium was also the venue which was used for the athletics and archery competitions during the Games. Other events were held at the purpose-built Sleeman Sports Complex in Chandler.
Australia competed at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver, Canada from 30 July to 7 August 1954. It was Australia's fifth appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having competed at every Games since their inception in 1930.
