Nasir Pemberton, [1] known professionally as Digital Nas or DN, is an American record producer, singer and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. He first gained recognition for his production work for Lil Yachty, and later for his work with Kanye West on his albums Donda (2021) and Vultures 1 (2024), both of which debuted atop the Billboard 200. [2]

Early life and career

Nasir Pemberton was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Getting involved with music early as a child, and throughout high school, he discovered his desire to produce music. As he continued to hone his production craft, he worked extensively with Trippie Redd, Playboi Carti and Lil Yachty prior to their mainstream breakthroughs. Following his quick rise to fame, Pemberton expanded to work with major artists including ASAP Rocky and Kanye West.

In January 2016, he formed his own record label, III Records. Pemberton has also frequently collaborated with fellow Atlanta-based artist Bktherula and executive produced her 2020 mixtape Nirvana, on which he also guest performed. [3]

Outside of music, Pemberton is an avid skateboarder. [4]

Musical style and influences

Nas is widely known for his effort in breaking into the mumble rap genre through the online audio distribution platform SoundCloud. Nas has cited several prominent artists as influencing his musical style, including Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Sid Vicious, and Morrissey. Additionally, his soft spot for shoegaze and punk rock bands, such as his favorite band Germs, are sources of inspiration.

Donda is the tenth studio album by American rapper Kanye West. It was released by GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings—as his final release with both labels—on August 29, 2021. The album features a broad range of guest performances from artists, including The Weeknd, Jay-Z, Marilyn Manson, Kid Cudi, Travis Scott, Lil Yachty, Baby Keem, Playboi Carti, Jay Electronica, Lil Baby, DaBaby, Roddy Ricch, Ty Dolla Sign, Fivio Foreign, Lil Durk, Pop Smoke, the Lox, Shenseea, Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine, and Young Thug, among others; as well as vocals from Chris Brown were also included prior to the album being updated. "Moon" is a song by American rapper Kanye West from his tenth studio album, Donda (2021). The song includes vocals from fellow rappers Don Toliver and Kid Cudi. The production was handled by West and E.Vax, with co-production from BoogzDaBeast and DJ Khalil. Alongside the vocalists, all the producers wrote the song. It initially only had an appearance from Toliver, however Kid Cudi was included after the album's first listening event in July 2021. Lil Yachty seeked the rapper's appearance by reaching out to Vory, who arranged it through contact with West. The song had been crafted by West before Toliver worked on it in 2021, differing largely from the initial recording on the final version. A tender ballad, it features riffs of electric guitar and lyrics from Kid Cudi about reflecting to better himself.

"Junya" is a song by American rapper Kanye West from his tenth studio album, Donda (2021). The song features vocals from fellow rapper Playboi Carti. Lyrically, the rappers pay tribute to Junya Watanabe and reference their watches made by him. The song's second part, "Junya pt 2", was also included on the album and features vocals from Ty Dolla Sign.

"Ok Ok" is a song by American rapper Kanye West from his tenth studio album, Donda (2021). The song features vocals from Lil Yachty and Rooga. Rooga recorded his verse after Lil Yachty at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2021. A second version was recorded under the title of "Ok Ok Pt 2", featuring vocals from Shenseea.

During the recording sessions for West's eleventh studio album, the duo began work on their collaborative effort, Vultures 1 (2024).
