Dilango Racing, or the Dilango Racing Team, is the first International motor racing team in Sri Lanka. The team was founded by Sri Lankan racing driver, Dilantha Malagamuwa, [1] in 2009 under the "Dilango Racing" name for the 2009 Formula V6 Asia Championship. Before that Malagamuwa was racing as an individual building up his racing career.

The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team, nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. He was a key member of the Sri Lankan team that won 1996 Cricket World Cup. Under his captaincy Sri Lanka become joint champions along with India in the 2002 Champions Trophy.

Deshabandu Marvan Samson Atapattu is a Sri Lankan cricket coach ,commentator and former cricketer who played for 17 years for Sri Lanka. Considered one of the most technically sound batsman in his era, Atapattu has scored six double centuries in Test cricket for Sri Lanka, irrespective of five ducks in his first six innings. Atapattu also captained the Sri Lankan team which won the 2004 Asia Cup.

José María "Pechito" López is an Argentine race car driver who is currently competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Toyota Gazoo Racing. He raced in the 2006 GP2 Series for the Super Nova team, and previously for the DAMS team, and the CMS team in Formula 3000. He was also at Renault F1 as a test driver. He was supposed to make his Formula One debut in 2010 for US F1 Team but the team shut down before contesting a single race. On 16 December 2013 he joined the Citroën Total WTCC team for the 2014 World Touring Car Championship season. He won 10 races that year and clinched his first World Touring Car Championship. In 2015 he repeated the feat, again winning 10 races and the championship. In 2016, he again retained the title with eight wins.

Anhettige Suresh Asanka Perera, known as Suresh Perera, is a former Sri Lankan international cricketer. A right-handed all-rounder, he played three Test and 20 One Day International (ODI) matches for the Sri Lankan national team, with his international career spanning from June 1998 to December 2001.

Hewa Kaluhalamullage Suraj Randiv Kaluhalamulla, formerly Mohamed Marshuk Mohamed Suraj, known popularly as Suraj Randiv, is a former professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who played all formats of the game. He plays first-class cricket for Sinhalese Sports Club. Suraj was educated at Rahula College Matara. He is now working as a bus driver.

The Gajaba Regiment (GR) is an elite infantry regiment of the Sri Lankan Army. Formed on 14 October 1983 at the Saliyapura Camp in Anuradhapura, it is named after the famous Sinhalese King Gajabahu the First. It consists of 14 regular battalions and 6 volunteer battalions.

Sandesaya is a 1960 film. The film based on the war between the Sinhalese people and the Portuguese invaders in Sri Lanka. It was directed by Sri Lankan film director Lester James Peries. It was produced by K. Gunaratnam on behalf of the Cinemas Company on the request of Raj Kapoor.

Badureliya Sports Club is a first-class cricket team in Sri Lanka. It plays its home matches at Surrey Village Cricket Ground, Maggona.

The 2009 attack on the Sri Lanka national cricket team occurred on 3 March 2009, when a bus carrying Sri Lankan cricketers, part of a larger convoy, was fired upon by 12 gunmen near Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan. The cricketers were on their way to play the third day of the second Test against the Pakistani cricket team. Six members of the Sri Lanka national cricket team were wounded and six Pakistani policemen and two civilians were killed.

Saliyapura Army Camp is a military base located in close to the ancient city of Anuradhapura, the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The camp was started out as the regimental headquarters of the Rajarata Rifles from state land. It serves as the regimental headquarters of the Gajaba Regiment of Sri Lanka Army since its formation in 1983. Built in close proximity to SLAF Anuradhapura. The base is the venue for the annual amateur outdoor motocross The Gajaba Supercross organized by the Gajaba Regiment and the SLARDAR, one of the premier motor racing events in the country.

Sport in Sri Lanka is a significant part of Sri Lankan culture. Although the Sports Ministry named volleyball the national sport, the most popular sport is Cricket. Rugby union is also popular. Other popular sports are water sports, badminton, athletics, football, basketball and tennis. Sri Lanka's schools and colleges regularly organize sports and athletics teams, competing on provincial and national levels.

Platinum Awards, is the first ever sports awards ceremony started in Sri Lanka and thus dubbed “The Oscars of sports awards ceremonies in Sri Lanka”.
