Dillon Lawson (born May 23,1985) [1] is an American professional baseball coach who is the assistant hitting coach for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously served as the hitting coach for the New York Yankees from 2022 to 2023.
Lawson attended Transylvania University,where he played college baseball as a catcher and first baseman. [2] After graduating,he became a coach at Lindenwood University from 2007 to 2009,IMG Academy from 2010 through 2011,Morehead State University from 2009 through 2012,and Southeast Missouri State University from 2012 through 2015. [3] In 2016,Lawson was the hitting coach for the Tri-City ValleyCats,and in 2017 he coached for the University of Missouri. [4] In 2018,he coached for the Quad Cities River Bandits. [2]
The New York Yankees hired Lawson as their minor league hitting coordinator in 2018. After the 2021 season,the Yankees promoted him to be their major league hitting coach. [5] He was fired on July 9,2023. [6] [7]
On December 20,2023,Lawson was hired by the Boston Red Sox to serve as a hitting coordinator,primarily to work with Boston's upper–level minor leaguers. [8] On October 27,2024,Lawson was named assistant hitting coach for the Red Sox. [9]
Lawson graduated from Transylvania University in 2007 with a degree in exercise science. [10] [11] In 2008,he earned a master’s degree from Lindenwood University in education with a focus on strength and conditioning. [10] [11] As of 2024 [update] ,Lawson was married with three sons. [10]

Jason Andrew Varitek,nicknamed "Tek",is an American professional baseball coach and former catcher. He is the game planning coordinator,a uniformed coaching position,for the Boston Red Sox. After being traded as a minor league prospect by the Seattle Mariners,Varitek played his entire 15-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Red Sox. A three-time All-Star and Gold Glove Award winner at catcher,as well as a Silver Slugger Award winner,Varitek was part of both the 2004 World Series and 2007 World Series Championship teams,and was viewed widely as one of the team's leaders. In December 2004 he was named the captain of the Red Sox,only their fourth captain since 1923. He was a switch-hitter.

The 2004 Boston Red Sox season was the 104th season in the franchise's Major League Baseball history. Managed by Terry Francona,the Red Sox finished with a 98–64 record,three games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East. The Red Sox qualified for the postseason as the AL wild card,swept the Anaheim Angels in the ALDS,and faced the Yankees in the ALCS for the second straight year. After losing the first three games to the Yankees and trailing in the ninth inning of the fourth game,the Red Sox became the first team in major league history to come back from a three-game postseason deficit,defeating the Yankees in seven games.
