Dinesh Raut [1] [2] [3] [4] (born 1982) is a Nepali film writer, director, [5] [6] producer and songwriter, He is known for I Am Sorry , November Rain , Classic , Parva, Prasad and Prakash . [7] Raut is the recipient of several awards, [8] including National Film Awards and many other awards.

Career

Raut started his career at the age of 14 as a Theater Artist and later he worked as an assistant director in movie “Mero Euta Sathi Cha” before moving into directing. He made his directorial debut with “I am Sorry” (2012). His biggest success to date is November Rain, starring Aaryan Sigdel and Namrata Shrestha from which he received Box Office movies award 2015 Best film director award and CG DCine [9] award 2015 in Best film Director. Raut's Classic (2016) also became a big success at the box office and won the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) Film Director Award. Also received the Jury award for movie Classic at International Nepalese Artist Society (INAS) Award, 2016. Raut's recent release was “Parva” (2017) starring Koshish Chettri, Namrata Shrestha which also became a huge success in thriller genera. He has also won Nepal rural film festival ( NERUFF ) - 2023 Jury award for movie “Prakash” , Spiny babaaler international film festival ( SBIFF ) - 2023 Best director feature film from movie “Prakash” also won Pim nepal film festival- 2022 Best director award for movie “Prakash”. He has written lyrics for his own movies like all songs for November Rain, Kale dai from Parva, Hare Hare from Classic as well as provided the lyrics for many other movies like Bir Bikram, Happy Days and so on.

November Rain is a 2014 Nepali-language romantic drama film directed by Dinesh Raut and produced by Aaryan Sigdel and Sunil Giri, and it is written by Chettan Gurung. The movie is about the love story of Aayush and Sheetal, but the story takes a dramatic turn when it is revealed that the heart of Aayush was illegally transferred by the doctor to Sheetal's son to allow them to survive. Dalli is in unrequitedly in love with Aayush. It was released in 2014 worldwide with positive reviews from critics, with praise aimed towards performances, direction, and story, but some critics criticized its runtime. Although the film had an average box-office opening, positive word of mouth from audiences helped the movie to register one of the highest collections at the Nepalese box office. The movie eventually became a huge commercial success. The film is now considered one of the best romantic movies ever made in Nepal.

At the 8th Dcine Awards, the movie won for best film.

The story is based on the life of a man from rural Nepal who dreams of becoming a school teacher. Entire filming was done in Jumla. The film stars Pradeep Khadka, Deeya Maskey, and Renu Yogi, who made her debut through this film. Prakash was made on a budget of around 2.5 crore Nepalese rupees, which makes it one of the most expensive Nepali films.

<i>Ainaa Jhyal Ko Putali</i> 2020 Nepalese film written & directed by Sujit Bidari

Ainaa Jhyal Ko Putali is a 2020 Nepali coming-of-age film written and directed by Sujit Bidari under the banner of Icefall Productions and Local Cinema. The film is Nepal's submission for the 95th Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film. It is the first Nepali film to compete for prize worth of 30,000 US dollars in 25th Busan International Film Festival for the category New Currents in 2020. Bidari also won the best director award in 2022 Dhaka International Film Festival. Released on September 9, 2022, the film stars Kanchan Chimariya, Dinesh Khatri, Siru Bista, and Ashok Shiwakoti, with the first two making their film debuts; similarly it was the first film for most of the actors who worked on it. The title of the film is inspired by a poem of Madhav Prasad Ghimire with the same title.

The film met with negative to mixed reviews from critics with many critics and audience criticizing its lack of newness in story, screenplay, direction but performances of the cast met with praise. The film broke several opening day records and went on to become one of the highest grossing film of all time in Nepal.
