Dirk Steffens (born 20 May 1950) is a German musician, audio engineer, and record producer.
Steffens studied guitar and piano at the Hamburg Conservatory. [1] As well, he played in the group Beathovens between 1969 and 1971. [1] In 1971, he began his own group Pennywonder, which also consisted of Thomas Kuckuck, Jurgen Ehlert, and Enrico Lombardi. [2] In July 1973 he joined the group Birth Control, and for family concerns, he left the group in January 1974. [2] He then worked as a guitar instructor and studio musician. [2] In autumn 1975 Dirk Steffens began work on his first solo album, "The Seventh Step",in which he played guitar, and with help from musician Ian Cussick from Scotland, who was a member of Lucifer's Friend for a short time, and musician Rolf Köhler, who was from Hamburg, and part of the group To Be. [1] "The Seventh Step" was finished and released in 1976 by Nova, and a second solo album entitled "Tollhouse" was completed and released by Nova in 1978, also with Dirk Steffens on guitar, and featuring Cussick and Kohler, as well as guest guitarist Peter Wiehe. [3] A lot of both solo record's song titles were referring to personal things from Steffens' own life. [1]
In 1995, "The Seventh Step" was issued on compact disc on Second Battle, and "Tollhouse" was issued on CD in 1998. [3]

It is said that the band is one of the most influential European heavy metal bands of the 1980s. Its first lineup consisted of singer and guitarist Kai Hansen, bassist Markus Grosskopf, guitarist Michael Weikath and drummer Ingo Schwichtenberg. By the time Hansen left Helloween in 1989 to form Gamma Ray, the band had evolved into a five-piece, with Michael Kiske taking over as lead vocalist. Schwichtenberg and Kiske both parted ways with Helloween in 1993; Schwichtenberg died two years later as the result of suicide. Between then and 2016, there had been numerous line-up changes, leaving Grosskopf and Weikath as the only remaining original members. As a septet, their current lineup is a union of all the living members of the Keeper of the Seven Keys: Parts I and II-era with the remaining members from the Keeper of the Seven Keys: The Legacy-era.

The terciopelo is a species of pit vipers, found in Central to South Americas. At low to moderate elevations, its habitat ranges from northeastern Mexico to Colombian and Ecuadorian Andes, as well as Venezuela. With a mass of up to 6 kilograms (13 lb), and a maximal length of 2.5 metres (8.2 ft), the terciopelo is among the largest vipers. It is light to dark brown in color, often with yellowish, zig-zag patterning on either side of its body. Dubbed "the ultimate pit-viper" for its defensiveness, large size, fangs and potent venom yield, it has a fearsome reputation, responsible for the most envenomated snakebites within its range, largely due to its proximity to humans, livestock and pets. Nonetheless, like all venomous snakes, the terciopelo actively avoids contact with humans and larger animals, with bites generally only occurring when the snake is cornered, pursued, or threatened. No subspecies are currently recognized.
