Dirk Jan Stubbe is a South African politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly for the Democratic Alliance from September 2010 to May 2019 and again from September 2020 until May 2024. Prior to his tenure in the National Assembly,Stubbe was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature.
In May 2009,Stubbe was elected to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature as a member of the Democratic Alliance. [2] He was the party's caucus leader in the legislature. [3] He resigned from the legislature in September 2010.
On 10 September 2010,Stubbe was sworn in as a Member of the National Assembly,replacing Andrew Louw,who had been redeployed to the provincial legislature. [4] DA parliamentary leader Athol Trollip appointed him as Shadow Minister for State Security. [5] In February 2012,newly elected DA parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko named him Shadow Deputy Minister of Police. [6] Stubbe was elected to a full term as a Member of Parliament in May 2014. In June 2014,he returned to the position of Shadow Minister of State Security. [7]
As Stubbe was placed low on the DA's national list for the 2019 general election,he did not return to Parliament after the election. Mmusi Maimane resigned from Parliament in October 2019 and the DA nominated him as his successor. He was sworn in on 10 September 2020. [8]
On 5 December 2020,Stubbe was appointed as Shadow Deputy Minister of State Security by John Steenhuisen. [9] He was elected as the DA's provincial finance chairperson on that same day. [10] Stubbe left parliament at the 2024 general election. [11]
Andrew Louw is a South African politician who served as Leader of the Opposition in the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2014 until 2021. He was the Provincial Leader of the Democratic Alliance in the Northern Cape from 2009 to 2020. He was previously a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa where he served as the Shadow Minister of Labour. Louw was the Democratic Alliance's Northern Cape Premier candidate for the 2014 and 2019 elections.

The Democratic Alliance held its 6th Federal Congress in Port Elizabeth,Eastern Cape from 9 May to 10 May 2015. After incumbent leader Helen Zille announced she would not seek reelection,the Congress became focused on the contest to succeed her.
Thomas Charles Ravenscroft Walters is a South African politician of the Democratic Alliance (DA) who has been serving as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since May 2024. Previously,he served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014 and then as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2014 until 2024. In 2012,Walters was elected Deputy Federal Council Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance,and has been deputising Federal Council Chairperson Helen Zille since 2019.
