The group was founded as the dance band Rex Band in 1959, was named Dizzie Tunes in 1962, and disbanded in 2002. [1] The regular group members were Yngvar Numme, Svein-Helge Høgberg, Øyvind Klingberg, Tor Erik Gunstrøm and Einar Idland. [2] Their record debut came in 1963 with the single "Mette Mette Mette". Their first album was called Dizzie Tunes (1967). Their first revue was Å, så heldig vi er, staged at Chat Noir in 1966 and starring Wenche Myhre. Their next revues were Syv glade lerker på en blå gren from 1969 and Show før jo heller from 1971. In 1972 singer and actress Grethe Kausland starred at the revue På scenekanten, and she later regularly performed with the group. Other revues were Memories of Music from 1980 and The show must go home from 1984. The 1988 revue Festsprell i Dizzie Tider had Hege Schøyen and Jon Skolmen as guest stars, and Dizzie og Damene at Chat Noir in 1993 had Elisabeth Andreassen and Ellen Nikolaysen as guest performers. [1] In their comedy routines Numme and Gunstrøm became an iconic couple playing their characteristic parts, exchanging insults and witty retorts, with Numme attempting to teach and direct the hopelessly inept Gunstrøm in various tunes and performances. Gunstrøm's comedic talent would often make the audience bowl over laughing.
The group won the Spellemannprisen award for 1973 for best children's album, with Den aller siste ra-ta-ta-ta. They reached a large public through their television shows. Their television show Sim Sala Bim from 1973 won the Bronze Rose at the Festival Rose d'Or in Montreux. [1] The film Tut og kjør was produced in 1975. The group was awarded the statuette Snill Gutt in 1988, the Swedish Lisebergapplåden in 1991, the Jens Book-Jenssen's prize in 1993, and the Leonard Statuette in 1993. A square in the city Skien was named "Dizzie Tunes plass" in 1999. [1]
Frode Thingnæs was a Norwegian jazz composer, arranger, conductor and trombone player who formed the Frode Thingnæs Quintet in 1960.
Grethe Kausland was a Norwegian singer, performer and actress. As a child star she was one of Norway's most popular singers, and she participated in several films as a child. She represented Norway in the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest, singing "Småting" with Benny Borg. From 1973 she performed regularly with the entertaining group Dizzie Tunes. Awarded "Spellemannprisen" 1978 for the album A Taste of Grethe Kausland, and "Leonardstatuetten" 1991 for her achievements on the revue scene.
Leonardstatuetten is a prize awarded by the Norwegian Comedy Writers' Association. The award is named after revue instructor, composer and director Einar Leonard Schanke (1927–1992), who was one of Norway's most important revue personalities. The prize is regarded the highest distinction in Norwegian revue. Awarded from 1968 to 2013, the statuette was given to persons with a significant and lasting importance to Norway's entertainment industry. The statuette was again awarded in 2019, when Eldar Vågan was the recipient.

The Aschehoug Prize is published annually by the Norwegian publishing house Aschehoug. The Aschehoug Prize is awarded to Norwegian authors on the basis of the merit of a recent publication. It is awarded on merit, irrespective of the publisher, based on a binding recommendation from the Norwegian Critics Organization. The prize consists of a statuette of sculptor Ørnulf Bast and 100,000 kroner (2018). The monumental sculpture Evig Liv which is the reference of the miniature statuette is to be found at Sehesteds plass in front of the publisher's main building in Oslo.

Kari Simonsen is a Norwegian actress. She made her professional stage debut at Folketeatret in 1959. She was appointed at Oslo Nye Teater from 1960 to 1972, and at Nationaltheatret from 1974. She has also played for radio and television, and had guest appearances at the revue stages Chat Noir and Edderkoppen. Simonsen is the mother of philosopher Herman Cappelen.
