Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol, known mononymously as Dharmendra, is an Indian actor, producer, and politician who is primarily known for his work in Hindi films. Nicknamed the "He-Man" of Bollywood, Dharmendra is widely regarded to be amongst the most handsome Indian actors of his time. In 2012, he received the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honour, from the Government of India. Dharmendra has worked in more than 200 films in a career spanning over six decades. Hema Malini Dharmendra Deol is an Indian actress, director, producer, and politician who is currently serving as a member of the Lok Sabha from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), representing Mathura constituency since 2014. She was a member of the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka from 2011 to 2012, subsequent to her nomination to that chamber from 2003 to 2009 as a member of the BJP. Tanuja Mukherjee known mononymously as Tanuja is an Indian actress who predominantly works in the Hindi film industry. Guddi is a 1971 Indian Hindi drama film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and written by Gulzar. It starred Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Utpal Dutt. It is Bachchan's career-making film in which she plays a schoolgirl who has a crush on and is obsessed with the actor Dharmendra, who plays himself. She earned a Filmfare nomination as Best Actress, the only nomination for the film. Dutt also has a starring role. Many Bollywood actors like Rajesh Khanna, Naveen Nischol, Asrani, Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Om Prakash and Pran gave guest appearances as themselves. According to Boxofficeindia.com, the film became a "big city hit" and Hit" business everywhere else. It was later remade in Tamil as Cinema Paithiyam (1975) starring Jayachitra and Jayasankar.

The music was composed by Hemant Kumar. At the 1966 National Film Awards it won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
