Big Finish Productions is a British company that produces books and audio plays based,primarily,on science fiction properties. These include Doctor Who,the characters Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog from 2000 AD,Blake's 7,Dark Shadows,Dracula,Terrahawks,Sapphire &Steel,Sherlock Holmes,Stargate,The Avengers,The Prisoner,Timeslip,and Torchwood.
Susan Foreman is a fictional character in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. The granddaughter of the Doctor and original companion of their first incarnation,she was played by actress Carole Ann Ford from 1963 to 1964,in the show's first season and the first two stories of the second season. Ford reprised the role for the feature-length 20th anniversary episode "The Five Doctors" (1983) and the 30th anniversary charity special Dimensions in Time (1993).
The First Doctor is the original incarnation of the Doctor,the protagonist of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. He was portrayed by actor William Hartnell in the first three series from 1963 to 1966 and the tenth anniversary story The Three Doctors from 1972 to 1973. Torchwood is a sci-fi audio series produced by Big Finish Productions based on the British television programme of the same name. Like the TV series,the dramas follow the exploits of the operatives who work for the Torchwood Institute,a fictional secret organisation that defends Earth against extraterrestrial threats.
The Eighth Doctor Adventures is a Big Finish Productions audio play series based on the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who. It sees the return of Paul McGann reprising his role as the Eighth Doctor from the 1996 television movie.
In 2012,Big Finish Productions began producing audio dramas featuring Doctor Who's fourth Doctor,as portrayed by Tom Baker. Baker had previously declined to feature in any Big Finish releases,but after recording a trilogy of full cast audio boxsets for BBC Audiobooks,he decided to participate. This was also part of a spin off series of the Monthly range.
The Companion Chronicles is a sci-fi audio series produced by Big Finish,detailing adventures usually featuring the Doctor,as told by various former companions of his,with only one further voice actor taking part in the narration. It began in 2007 as a mini-series of four stories about adventures of the first four Doctors,but its popularity ensured that it returned for a second mini-series,and then in July 2008 releases became monthly. The monthly series of Companion Chronicles ended in June 2014 but the range has continued with box set releases,these releases focusing on adventures concerning the First and Second Doctors as narrated by their surviving companions.
The Tenth Doctor Adventures,announced in October 2015,is a Big Finish Productions audio play series based on the television series Doctor Who. It sees the return of David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. The first trilogy of stories was released in May 2016. In November 2017 a second volume was released,featuring the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler. A third volume was released in May 2019,with Tate again reprising her role as Donna.
The Third Doctor Adventures is a sci-fi audio series produced by Big Finish Productions based on the TV show Doctor Who. It sees the return of Katy Manning as Jo Grant,Richard Franklin as Mike Yates,and John Levene as Sergeant Benton while the voice of the Third Doctor is performed by Tim Treloar replacing the original actor,Jon Pertwee,who died in 1996.
The War Master,announced in June 2017,is a Big Finish Productions audio play series based on the TV show Doctor Who. It sees the return of Sir Derek Jacobi as the Master,a role he previously portrayed in the TV story "Utopia". The first volume consists of a four-CD box set;it was released in December 2017. In July 2018,a further 3 series were confirmed for release between December 2018 –December 2019.
The Ninth Doctor Adventures,announced in August 2020,is a Big Finish Productions audio play series based on the television series Doctor Who. It sees the return of Christopher Eccleston reprising his role as the Ninth Doctor and will span four boxsets comprising an entire audio season that was released between May 2021 and February 2022. A second audio season of four more boxsets followed in 2022 and 2023;a third audio season of four followed in 2023 and 2024.
The Seventh Doctor Adventures is a Big Finish Productions audio play series based on the television series Doctor Who. It sees the return of Sylvester McCoy reprising his role as the Seventh Doctor.
The Sixth Doctor Adventures is a Big Finish Productions audio play series based on the television series Doctor Who. It sees the return of Colin Baker reprising his role as the Sixth Doctor.
The Fifth Doctor Adventures is a Big Finish Productions audio play series based on the television series Doctor Who. It sees the return of Peter Davison reprising his role as the Fifth Doctor.
The Second Doctor Adventures is a Big Finish Productions audio play series based on the television series Doctor Who. Michael Troughton,son of the original actor Patrick Troughton,voices the role of the Second Doctor.
