A musician, played by Alex Komang, angered by the political murder of one of his friends, decides to murder a Dutch official. However, on falling in love with the sister (played by Jenny Rachman) of the murdered friend, he begins to wonder if vengeance is the right course. [1] [2]

Teguh Karya was an Indonesian film director. Starting his entertainment career in theatre, he made his directorial debut with Wadjah Seorang Laki-Laki, released three years later. He later directed numerous critically acclaimed films, including Cinta Pertama, Badai Pasti Berlalu, and November 1828. In 2001 Karya died from complications from a 1998 stroke.

The film was shot in the Indies and Singapore, and was partially inspired by the 1936 Hollywood film The Jungle Princess. It was aimed at native audiences and included keroncong music, which was popular at the time, and several actors from Balink's previous work Pareh (1936).
