Gelderland, also known as Guelders in English, is a province of the Netherlands, located in the central eastern part of the country. With a total area of nearly 5,136 km2 (1,983 sq mi) of which 169 km2 (65 sq mi) is water, it is the largest province of the Netherlands and shares borders with six other provinces and the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Apeldoorn is a municipality and city in the province of Gelderland in the centre of the Netherlands. It is a regional centre. The municipality of Apeldoorn, including villages like Beekbergen, Loenen, Ugchelen and Hoenderloo, had a population of 162,445 in 2019. The western half of the municipality lies on the Veluwe ridge, the eastern half lies in the IJssel valley.
Wageningen is a municipality and a historic town in the central Netherlands, in the province of Gelderland. It is famous for Wageningen University, which specialises in life sciences. The municipality had a population of 38,774 in 2019, of which many thousands are students from over 150 countries.
The post mill is the earliest type of European windmill. Its defining feature is that the whole body of the mill that houses the machinery is mounted on a single vertical post, around which it can be turned to bring the sails into the wind.
The Randstad is a megalopolis in the central-western Netherlands consisting primarily of the four largest Dutch cities and their surrounding areas. It encompasses both the Amsterdam metropolitan area and Rotterdam–The Hague metropolitan area.

De Noord is a windmill located on the Noordvest 38 in Schiedam, Netherlands. It is the tallest windmill in the world with a roof height of 33.3 metres. Its wing span is 26.6 metres. The mill is one of the five remaining windmills in Schiedam, and is a national monument since 29 May 1969. Today De Noord houses a restaurant.

De Keetmolen is a windmill in Ede, Netherlands. According to the inscription under the sails and the sign at the entrance, the mill was built in 1750. This is incorrect; according to municipal records, the building permit issued in 1856 stated that the mill should be built within two years. The mill was opened in 1858.
Op de Vrouweheide is a windmill located on the Vrouwenheide just south of Ubachsberg, Voerendaal, in the Dutch province of Limburg. Build in 1858 as a tower mill, on an artificial hill, the windmill functioned as a gristmill. The mill is a national monument since 17 January 1967.
De Akkermolen is a 17th-century windmill in Zundert, Netherlands. Built around 1605 to replace an earlier windmill, it was used as a gristmill until it was severely damaged in 1950. The mill was bought by the local government and restored in 1961, and it was listed as a national heritage site in 1974.
