Dominik Knoll is a real estate investor. He was the CEO of the World Trade Center New Orleans [1] from May 2010 to December 2016. [2]

Biography

Dominik Knoll received his MBA from the Freeman School of Business [3] and also studied at the Warwick Business School and Purdue University; he is also an alumnus of the Executive Education program at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. In addition, he holds a Master of Science degree in management from the School of Management at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. He has been a guest at conferences such as the Clinton Global Initiative [4] and the World Economic Forum. [5] Knoll is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post [6] and has been featured in several national and international publications including the Wall Street Journal, [7] Fortune, [8] Forbes Magazine, [9] China Daily, and others.

Knoll currently serves on the boards of Congressman Steve Scalise's Energy Advisory Group, French American Chamber of Commerce, Italy-America Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana, [10] Loyola University International Business Council, and was recently appointed by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal to the Louisiana Board of International Commerce. [11] He also serves as an executive advisor on the Council on Competitiveness U.S. Manufacturing Competitiveness Initiative [12] and a steering committee member for the Campaign to Fix the Debt. [13]

In 2013, Knoll was recognized as one of the 10 most distinguished Italians living and working in the U.S. by the Italy America Chamber of Commerce. [14] Knoll was also featured in New Orleans Magazine's 2010 "People to Watch" article. [15]

In 2007, he published his Master's Thesis as a book in German: Unternehmensnetzwerke: Erfolgreich einem Netzwerk - Cluster beitreten, at the self-publishing publisher VDM, Saarbruecken. [16]

Walter Joseph Boasso is an American businessman and Democratic former state senator from Chalmette, the seat of government of St. Bernard Parish in south Louisiana. He was defeated in a bid for governor in the October 20, 2007, nonpartisan blanket primary by the Republican Bobby Jindal. Boasso won 47 percent in his own St. Bernard Parish, his sole plurality showing in any of his state's sixty-four parishes. From 2004 to 2008, Boasso represented Senate District 1, which includes parts of Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, and St. Tammany parishes, many of those areas having been devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

The 2007 Louisiana gubernatorial election was held on October 20. The filing deadline for candidates was September 6. On the day of the election, all 12 candidates competed in an open jungle primary. Bobby Jindal won the election with 54%. This was the first time since 1968 in which the winner of a Louisiana gubernatorial election was of the same party as the incumbent president.

The A. B.Freeman School of Business is the business school of Tulane University, located in New Orleans, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The school offers undergraduate programs, a full-time MBA program and other master's programs, a doctoral program, and executive education. It was a charter member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business in 1916. The school was named in honor of A. B. Freeman, a former chairman of the Louisiana Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and a prominent New Orleans philanthropist. The school is known in the finance community as the publisher of Burkenroad Reports.

The 2011 Louisiana gubernatorial election was held on October 22 with 10 candidates competing in a nonpartisan blanket primary. Incumbent Republican Bobby Jindal won a second term. Since he won an outright majority of the vote in the blanket primary, a runoff election that would have otherwise occurred on November 19 was unnecessary. This was the last time until 2023 that a Republican was elected governor of Louisiana and that a Louisiana governor election was decided without a runoff.

The Louisiana Science Education Act, Act 473 (SB733) of 2008 is a controversial anti-evolution law passed by the Louisiana Legislature on June 11, 2008 and signed into law by Governor Bobby Jindal on June 25. The act allows public school teachers to use supplemental materials in the science classroom which are critical of scientific theories such as evolution and global warming and to promote creationism as science. Louisiana was the first state to have passed a law of this type.

United States gubernatorial elections were held in three states in 2015 as part of the 2015 United States elections. In Kentucky and Mississippi, the elections were held on November 3, and in Louisiana, as no candidate received a majority of votes at the primary election on October 24, 2015, a runoff election was held on November 21. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all three states were in 2011. Democrats picked up the open seat of term-limited Republican Bobby Jindal in Louisiana, while Republicans re-elected incumbent Phil Bryant in Mississippi and picked up the seat of term-limited Democrat Steve Beshear in Kentucky.

Incumbent Governor John Bel Edwards was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third consecutive term in office. This race was one of two Democratic-held governorships up for election in 2023 in a state that voted for Donald Trump in 2020.
