Mohammad Ashraful Haque (better known by the stage name as Don, birth: 7 August 1971) [1] is a Bangladeshi film actor. He usually plays supporting character as an antagonist. He made his on-screen debut in the film Love (1991) directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan, but his first release was Keyamot Theke Keyamot in 1993, which was also directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan. Don has acted more than 650 films in his career of more than two decades. [2] [3] In 2023 he performed in Priyotoma , which is the highest grossing Bangladesh film of all-time.

Early life

Don was born on 7 August 1971 as Mohammad Ashraful Haque to Mohammad Nazmul Haque and Mosammat Moazzama Haque in Katnapara, Bogra. His father is deceased but his mother is currently living in USA. Don is the youngest of ten siblings.

Career

After leaving Bogra city and coming to Dhaka, he auditioned in search of new faces for BFDC in 1991, but was failed. When he met director Sohanur Rahman Sohan, give him a chance in a film for the first time. Don made his on-screen debut in the Sohanur Rahman Sohan's Love. But his first release Sohan's another project Keyamot Theke Keyamot in 1993, which was also debut of popular actors Salman Shah and Moushumi. [4] [5] He got to know the late actor Salman Shah by acting in the film Keyamot Theke Keyamot. His list of hit films include E Jibon Tomar Amar, Bikkhov, Valobasa Mullo Koto, Tomake Chai, Phuler Moto Bou, Biyer Phul, Jibon Songsar, Valobasa Kare Koy, Moha Milon, Milon Hobe Koto Din, Matir Phul. He has acted more than 650 films in his career of more than two decades. Apart from films, he has also acted in several television dramas. He was also played as hero opposite actress Jona in the telefilm Koto Bhalobashi Tomake directed by Kaushik Hossain Taposh. Don also produced a film titled Ek Janomer Valabasha, apart from film. In 2023, he performed as an antagonist in Himel Ashraf's tragic romance Priyotoma co-starring Shakib Khan, which became the highest grossing Bangladeshi film of all-time.

Along with acting, Don also formed the band group named Archive. [6] Involved in various social activities. From 2015 to 2016, he also served as the international affairs editor of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association. [7] [8] [9] [10]

Keyamot Theke Keyamot is a Bangladeshi musical romantic drama film directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan. The film was released on Eid vacation and was a huge success throughout Bangladesh. This movie was also the debut film of its two main leads Salman Shah and Moushumi, both of whom later became top movie stars in Bangladesh. The film is an official remake of the 1988 Hindi Language film titled Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, and like its predecessor, is based on Romeo and Juliet.

Sohanur Rahman Sohan was a Bangladeshi film director and screenwriter, who was best known as the first director of Bangladeshi superstars Shakib Khan. He started his film career as an assistant of director Shibli Sadik. His first film was Biswas Abiswas (1988). He was best known in Dhallywood for directing romantic films. He launched Salman Shah and Moushumi with the film Keyamat Theke Keyamat in 1993 and his Ananta Bhalobasha in 1999 marked a turning point in Bangladeshi cinema by introducing Shakib Khan, who is now one of the biggest superstars in the industry. Other notable films directed by him are Amar Jaan Amar Pran (2008), Poran Jai Jolia Re (2010), Se Amar Mon Kereche (2012) etc. He served as the principal of the Universal Performing Arts Institute.

Prince Mahmud is a Bangladeshi lyricist, composer and music director. He has been writing and composing songs for solo and joint albums of band artists in Bangladesh since the 90's. Many of his songs gained wide popularity. His first mixed album Shakti (1995) propelled his journey as a composer of mixed albums, which immediately garnered him a massive success. In a career spanning more than three decades, Mahmud has released 50 albums including solo, duets and mixed. He is widely regarded as the greatest lyricist and composer of his time.

Maznun Mizan, commonly known as Mizan, is a Bangladeshi film and television actor, director. He became a favourite with the audience after his performance in Humayun Ahmed's film 'Noy Number Bipod Sonket'. Ananta Bhalobasha is a 1999 Bangladeshi romantic action film. The film directed and screenplay by Sohanur Rahman Sohan and Produced by Kuddusur Rahman under the banner of SP Production. The story and dialogues of the film are written by Abu Saeed Khan and Henry Amin respectively. The film stars Shakib Khan and Erin Zaman played the lead roles in the film. It also feature Abul Hayat, Wasimul Bari Rajib, Dolly Johur and Misha Sawdagor also played various important roles. The film mark as the on-screen debut Shakib Khan and Erin Zaman.

Ke Apon Ke Por is a Bangladeshi film directed by Shahin-Sumon and produced by Amit Hasan under his Tele View Production. It features Amit Hasan, Apu Biswas, Alamgir, Farida Akhtar Babita and Misha Sawdagor in the lead roles. Superstar Shakib Khan makes a special appearance in the film. The film was a remake of 1990 Hindi film Swarg which was a loosely based on 1967 movie Mehrban which itself was a remake of the 1960 Tamil movie Padikkadha Medhai which in turn was a remake of 1953 Bengali film Jog Biyog based on the novel of same name by Ashapoorna Devi.
