The Spencer Gulf is the westernmost and larger of two large inlets on the southern coast of Australia,in the state of South Australia,facing the Great Australian Bight. It spans from the Cape Catastrophe and Eyre Peninsula in the west to Cape Spencer and Yorke Peninsula in the east.
The Limpinwood Nature Reserve is a protected nature reserve that is located on the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales,in eastern Australia. The reserve was gazetted in April 1963 with additions made in 1967,over former fauna and crown reserves,and further additions were made in 1988 to make the reserve to its current area of 2,646 hectares. The reserve is situated north-west of the rural locality of Limpinwood,and north of Tyalgum and defines part of the state border between New South Wales and Queensland.
Lorentz National Park is a national park located in Central Papua,Indonesia,in the southwest of western New Guinea. With an area of 25,056 km2 (9,674 mi2),it is the largest national park in Southeast Asia. In 1999 Lorentz was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The Sundarbans National Park is a national park,tiger reserve and biosphere reserve in West Bengal,India. It is part of the Sundarbans on the Ganges Delta and adjacent to the Sundarban Reserve Forest in Bangladesh. It is located to south-west of the Bangladesh. The delta is densely covered by mangrove forests,and is one of the largest reserves for the Bengal tiger. It is also home to a variety of bird,reptile and invertebrate species,including the salt-water crocodile. The present Sundarban National Park was declared as the core area of Sundarban Tiger Reserve in 1973 and a wildlife sanctuary in 1977. On 4 May 1984 it was declared a national park. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 1987,and it has been designated as a Ramsar site since 2019. It is considered as a World Network of Biosphere Reserve from 1989.
The Port River is part of a tidal estuary located north of the Adelaide city centre in the Australian state of South Australia. It has been used as a shipping channel since the beginning of European settlement of South Australia in 1836,when Colonel Light selected the site to use as a port. Before colonisation,the Port River region and the estuary area were known as Yerta Bulti by the Kaurna people,and used extensively as a source of food and plant materials to fashion artefacts used in daily life.
Sundarbans is a mangrove area in the delta formed by the confluence of the Ganges,Brahmaputra and Meghna Rivers in the Bay of Bengal. Sundarban Reserve Forest (SRF) of Bangladesh is the largest mangrove forest in the world. It spans the area from the Baleswar River in Bangladesh's division of Khulna to the Hooghly River in India's state of West Bengal. It comprises closed and open mangrove forests,land used for agricultural purpose,mudflats and barren land,and is intersected by multiple tidal streams and channels. Sundarbans is home to the world's largest area of mangrove forests. Four protected areas in the Sundarbans are enlisted as UNESCO World Heritage Sites,viz. Sundarbans West (Bangladesh),Sundarbans South (Bangladesh),Sundarbans East (Bangladesh) and Sundarbans National Park (India).

The reserve is protected under the Ramsar Convention as a wetland of international importance as an important breeding ground for many vulnerable,protected,or endangered species. The Towra Point Aquatic Nature Reserve is located in the surrounding waterways.

Protected areas of Sri Lanka are administrated by Department of Forest Conservation and Department of Wildlife Conservation of Sri Lanka.There are 501 protected areas in Sri Lanka. The protected areas that fall under supervision of the Department of Forest Conservation include forests defined in National Heritage Wilderness Area Act in 1988,forest reservations,and forests managed for sustainability. Sinharaja Forest Reserve is an example for a National Heritage forest. There are 32 forests categorized as conservation forests including Knuckles Mountain Range. Strict nature reserves,national parks,nature reserves,forest corridors,and sanctuaries recognized under the Flora and Fauna Protection Ordinance are managed by Department of Wildlife Conservation. Total of all protected areas is 1,767,000 ha. Protected areas in Sri Lanka account for 26.5 percent of the total area. This is a higher percentage of protected areas than in all of Asia and much of the World.
Sundarbans West Wildlife Sanctuary is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and animal sanctuary in Bangladesh. The area of the reserve covers 715 km2. It is part of the larger Sundarbans region,one of the largest mangroveforests in the world. It is formed at the unified delta of the Ganges,Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers on the Bay of Bengal. The total area of the entire Sundarbans is about one million ha,60% of which is found in Bangladesh,with the remainder 40% in India. The region is divided by the Raimangal River. Within the Bangladeshi area of Sundarbans,there are three wildlife sanctuaries:Sundarbans East,Sundarbans South,and Sundarbans West.

The Ilha Grande mangroves ecoregion covers a series of disconnected salt-water and brackish mangrove forests along the southeastern coast of Brazil on the South Atlantic Ocean. The ecoregion is defined as covering the mangroves found between the Paraíba do Sul River in the north to Florianópolis in the south. This coastal region is the most densely population region of Brazil,and many of the mangroves are in close proximity to ports and industrial cities. A number of ecological reserves have been established to protect the high biodiversity of the mangroves,recognizing their importance to migratory birds,and as nursery habitat for juvenile fish,crabs,shrimp,and mollusks.
