Dore Numa College

Dore Numa College is a government-owned secondary school in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. [1] [2] [3] It is a day school named after Chief Dore Numa. [4] It was established in October 1980 to provide secondary education for children and its motto is "Hardwork Is Success".

In June 2013, during the administration of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Dore Numa College was one of the schools inspected by the Delta State Governor, who decried vandalisation of government projects in the newly constructed schools. [5]

In December 2021, it was reported that there was a cult clash between some Dore Numa College students and other students who came from different schools in the area. [6] A female student of Dore Numa College named Sharon Taiwo was also a victim of human trafficking and was assisted financially by the Delta State Governor's wife, Mrs. Dame Edith Okowa. The Itsekiri are an ethnic group who mainly inhabit Nigeria's Niger Delta area. They speak a Yoruboid language and can be found in Ondo, Edo and Delta State. The Itsekiris presently transcends a population of over 1 million people and live mainly in parts of Ondo, Edo and majorly in the Warri South, Warri North and Warri South West local government districts of Delta State on the Atlantic coast of Nigeria.

The school has literally raised several generations of Nigerians from all tribes and backgrounds and schooled them in the best tradition of scholarship, athleticism, citizenship and morality. The 60th anniversary celebration of the foundation of Hussey College, Warri was organised by the Old Students Association in 2007.

Justus Esiri was a Nigerian actor, generally considered to be one of the pillars of Nollywood with an acting career that goes way back to the 1960s. He came into prominence for his role in the popular Nigerian Television Authority TV-series The Village Headmaster and the film adaptation of Chinua Achebe's book Things Fall Apart where he played the role of Obierika. He won Best Actor award at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards post-humously for his role in Assassins Practice and was also honored as the inaugural recipient of the "Goodluck Jonathan Lifetime Achievement Award" at the 2013 Nollywood Movies Awards. Olori Atuwatse III, is the Queen of the Warri Kingdom, a lawyer, social entrepreneur and wife of Ogiame Atuwatse III, current ruler of the Kingdom of Warri, and the 21st Olu of Warri. She is also the daughter of Nigerian billionaire business magnate, investor and philanthropist Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo. After his coronation in August 2021, the Olu of Warri bestowed a new title on his wife, calling her Olori Atuwatse III, now her official title.

Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
