Doreen Mirembe (born 4 October 1987), is a Ugandan actress, filmmaker, [1] [2] producer, founder of Amani (a film company) and dental assistant at Pan Dental Surgery. [3] She has acted in numerous films and TV series as well as producing her own movies. [4]

Career

In addition to several films and television commercials, Mirembe has appeared in TV series such as Deception NTV as Dr. Stephanie and Nana Kagga's Beneath The Lies as Miriam. She founded Amani House, her own film company. Her first film A Dog Story was an experimental film which garnered many nominations for Best Short Film and won two awards for Best Actor and Best Actress in a Short Film at the Pearl International Film Festival in 2006. [5] [2] She later produced her second and third film titled Nectar and Kafa Coh respectively. [6]

Mirembe is an active in-service dental assistant at Pan Dental Surgery, Kampala. [7]

Kyaddala is a Ugandan drama television series by Reach a Hand Uganda. The first season was produced by Emmanuel Ikubese Films and Reach a Hand Uganda. Set in a present day high school life, Kyaddala a Luganda word for "It's Real", focuses on real life social issues that affect young people across Africa and their attempts to overcome those issues. The series features actors and actresses from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria. Kyaddala premiered on 27 September 2019 at Kingdom Kampala.

Mistakes Girls Do, also stylized as Mistakes Gals Do, is a Ugandan drama television series created and produced by Richard Mulindwa under the Limit Productions banner. The series which had been running as a web series since its release in 2017 was picked up by Pearl Magic network when it started operating in 2018. The series is about the lives of young women, the mistakes they make in their lives, the consequences they face and the lessons they learn.

The Honourables is a Ugandan political satire-drama series that premiered on NTV Uganda on 9 January 2017, starring Hellen Lukoma, Symon Base Kalema, Aisha Kyomuhangi, Philip Luswata, Malaika, Doreen Mirembe, Candy Mutesi, Patricko Mujuuka and singer Stecia Mayanja. The series which was also later picked up by Pearl Magic in 2018 exposes the vices of MPs and other government officials who frequent a local bar in Kampala, showing their greed, corruption, adultery and many other vices.

Dominica or Dominic Dipio is a Ugandan religious sister, a filmmaker, author and a professor of Literature and Film at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. As a sister, she belongs to the Institute of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church, MSMMC, a Ugandan-founded religious congregation in Roman Catholic Diocese of Lira in Northern Uganda. In November 2019 she was appointed Consultor of the Pontifical Council for Culture by Pope Francis.

Kafa Coh is a Ugandan English language legal drama directed by Gilbert K. Lukalia, produced by Doreen Mirembe at her Amani House Productions in Kampala and stars Nigerian actor Kalu Ikeagwu, Doreen Mirembe, singer, producer and actor Mariam Ndagire, Abby Mukiibi Nkaaga, Rehema Nanfuka, Vladimir Stefanov and Oyenbot. It premiered in Kampala on October 8, 2022 and showed in cinema up to October 13 of the same year.
