Dorte Ekner (born 2 May 1951) is a Danish former professional tennis player.
A three-time national singles champion, Ekner represented Denmark in 15 Federation Cup ties between 1973 and 1982, for wins in four singles and five doubles rubbers. [1]
Ekner became the first Danish woman to reach the quarter-finals of a grand slam tournament during her run at the 1978 Australian Open. [2] Competing as a main draw qualifier, Ekner defeated the sixth-seeded Cynthia Doerner and West German Heidi Eisterlehner, before falling in the quarter-finals to eventual champion Chris O'Neil. [3]
Kenneth Carlsen is a Danish former professional tennis player, who was active between 1992 and 2007. Carlsen played left-handed with a one-handed backhand. His greatest asset was his powerful serve, and his game was therefore best suited to fast surfaces. For most of his long career, Carlsen was Denmark's best tennis player, and consistently among the few Danish players playing at the highest international level. He was awarded as best Danish "Tennis Player of the Year" seven times by the Danish Tennis Federation. Two times the award went to the Danish Davis Cup team, of which Kenneth Carlsen until 2003 was a central part.
Caroline Wozniacki is a Danish professional tennis player. She was ranked world No. 1 in singles for a total of 71 weeks, including at the end of 2010 and 2011. She achieved the top ranking for the first time on 11 October 2010, becoming the 20th player in the Open Era and the first from a Scandinavian country to hold the top position. In 2018, she became the first Dane to win a major singles title, at the Australian Open.

Michael Tauson is a former tennis player from Denmark, who represented his native country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. The right-hander reached his highest singles ATP-ranking on 5 March 1990, when he became the number 101 of the world. Michael Tauson is nowadays among other things, working as Tennis commentator for Danish television; TV2 and TV2 Sport.

A total of 113 athletes, 63 men and 50 women, competed in 17 sports, although two additional athletes played as team reserves. Handball was the only team-based sport in which Denmark was represented in at these Olympic games.
