An operatic rock ballad, the recording of the song was overseen by audio engineer Bill Porter and released as a 45 rpm single by Monument Records in March 1961 and went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Running Scared" also reached No.9 in the UK Singles Chart. It sold over one million copies in the US alone. The song was included on Orbison's 1962 album Crying as the final track on the album.

Her hit song "Gypsy Woman” has been sampled hundreds of times. Though her music sales have yet to be re-certified, Waters has sold over 7 million records worldwide.
Regina Marie Cuttita, also known as Regina Richards or simply Regina, is an American singer born in Brooklyn, New York. She began her career in the late 1970s as the frontwoman of the new wave band Regina Richards and Red Hot. She is perhaps best known for the hit single "Baby Love", which reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1986. "Baby Love" was her only song to chart on the Hot 100, making her a one-hit wonder. The song also reached number 50 on the UK Singles Chart that same year.
The Chimes were a British dance music trio, which consisted of Pauline Henry with Mike Peden and James Locke from Edinburgh, Scotland. They are best known for their hits "Heaven" and a remake of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", which became a UK top 10 hit.
Marc Kinchen, known by his initials MK, is an American DJ, record producer and remixer. He hit number-one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1993 and 1994 with the songs "Always" and "Love Changes". Lead vocals on both of those tracks were performed by Alana Simon. The combo also recorded the underground house music classic anthem "Burning". "Always" peaked at number 69 on the UK Singles Chart in February 1995. MK also hit the dance chart with "4 You", using the pseudonym 4th Measure Men.
Love Tribe is a house music studio group assembled by producers Dewey Bullock, Latanza Waters and Victor Mitchell. Their biggest success came in 1996 when their track "Stand Up" reached #1 on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart. It reached #23 in the UK Singles Chart in July that year. Their only other chart single was a remix of their first - in 2001 "Stand Up" hit #5 after it was reworked by Thunderpuss.

The song reached No. 63 on the UK Singles Chart. His next U.S. dance chart entry came in 2002, when "Insatiable" hit No. 1. "Insatiable" was released under the pseudonym Thick Dick.
