Double Target is a 1987 film directed by Bruno Mattei. The film was released theatrically in West Germany as Der Kampfgigant in 1987. [3]
The film starts with terrorists who attack American military bases in several Southeast Asian states. Ex-GI Bob Ross is smuggled into Vietnam by the CIA, where he is supposed to put the masterminds of the attacks out of action. In return, the secret service frees Bob's son who was born there from a re-education camp and brings him home to America. After heavy fighting with Viet Cong soldiers and Russian special forces, Ross also returns victorious to the United States.
Double Target was released theatrically in West Germany on June 11, 1987. [3] It was later released in the United Kingdom on the home video label Avatar in August 1987 as Double Target. [4]
From contemporary reviews, the German film almanac Fischer Film Almanach stated that the film was another hybrid of the other bad Vietnam-themed films made after Rambo . [3] In a retrospective review, Daniel R. Budnik wrote in his book on 1980s action films that Double Target is "entertaining but a little too long" and that the film "alternates between Sense and No Sense, the way many Mattei films do." [5]

Red Scorpion is a 1988 American action film starring Dolph Lundgren and directed by Joseph Zito. Lundgren appears as a Soviet special forces ("Spetsnaz") operative sent to assassinate an anti-communist rebel leader in Africa, only to side with the rebels. Claudio Fragasso is a film director and screenwriter. Fragasso first attempted to make art films in the early 1970s, then became a screenwriter in the Italian film industry in the mid-1970s. Fragasso met director Bruno Mattei, which led to a ten-year partnership from 1980 to 1990 during which the two worked together closely on films, with Fragasso's contributions often going uncredited. Fragasso's wife Rossella Drudi was also a screenwriter and collaborated with him on a number of projects. Fragasso would later go on to write and direct his own films in the 1980s, including Monster Dog with rock musician Alice Cooper and After Death. Fragasso directed Troll 2 in 1989, which was later the topic of Best Worst Movie, a documentary film that discussed Troll 2's fandom.
Bruno Mattei was an Italian film director, screenwriter, and editor who directed exploitation films in many genres, including women in prison, nunsploitation, zombie, mondo, cannibal, and Nazisploitation films. Mattei's films often followed popular genre trends of the era. Mattei continued work as a director primarily in the Philippines until his death in 2007, just before he was to enter production on his fifth Zombie film.

The film starred Bo Svenson and Peter Hooten and was shot primarily in the Dominican Republic. It did not receive a theatrical release in Italy and was released on home video in West Germany as Brothers in Blood in 1987.
