Doug Novak is an American basketball coach who is an assistant coach for the Northern Kentucky Norse women's basketball team. Before coaching for Northern Kentucky, Novak was the interim head coach of the Mississippi State women's basketball team from 2021 to 2022 following the resignation of head coach Nikki McCray-Penson due to health concerns. [1] Novak has been head coach before, coaching the Iowa Western Reivers, Anderson Trojans, and Bethel Royals men's basketball teams.
Novak attended the University of Tennessee from 1987 to 1990, majoring in psychology. While at Tennessee, Novak played tennis and was a part of the Tennessee tennis team that was ranked number one at the collegiate level. [2] [3] [4]
After serving as an assistant tennis coach at Clemson University, [2] Novak coached as an assistant basketball coach for various colleges, most notably The Citadel and Tulane University. Novak was also the head coach at Iowa Western Community College, Anderson University, and Bethel University. Following an eight-year tenure at Bethel, he became an assistant coach for Mississippi State University women's basketball. [5] [6] He was later elevated to the position of interim head coach following the resignation of Nikki McCray-Penson. [7] [8] [9] Following his season as interim head coach, Novak was hired as the associate head coach for the Army Black Knights men's basketball team. [10] After his sole year with Army, Novak was hired as an assistant coach for the Northern Kentucky Norse women's basketball team before the 2023 season. [11]

Humphrey Coliseum is a 9,100-seat multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Mississippi State University, just outside Starkville, Mississippi, that opened for the 1975-76 basketball season. Nicknamed The Hump, it is home to the Mississippi State Bulldogs men's and women's basketball teams. It is the largest on-campus basketball arena in the state of Mississippi. The building is the equivalent of seven stories high and is in the shape of an oval 318' long by 268' wide.

Nikki Kesangane McCray-Penson was an American basketball player and coach. She was the head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs women's basketball team from 2020 to 2021 and a professional basketball player from 1996 to 2006. She played in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) for eight seasons. In 2008 after leaving the WNBA, McCray joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach for the South Carolina Gamecocks. McCray-Penson was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.

Richard Lee Stansbury, is an American college basketball coach who is currently an assistant coach for the Memphis Tigers men's basketball team. He was most recently the head coach for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers basketball team from 2016 to 2023. He was hired as the WKU head coach on March 28, 2016. He is a member of the Campbellsville University Athletics Hall of Fame.
The Northern Kentucky Norse are the athletic teams of Northern Kentucky University, located in Highland Heights, Kentucky, United States. NKU is an NCAA Division I school competing in the Horizon League, which it joined on July 1, 2015, after leaving the Atlantic Sun Conference. The university's teams for both men and women are nicknamed "Norse."
Davey Lee Whitney Sr., also known as "The Wiz", was an American college basketball coach and the head basketball coach at Texas Southern University from 1964 to 1969 and Alcorn State University from 1969 to 1989 and 1996 to 2003. He amassed a total record of 566 wins and 356 losses in 33 seasons of coaching at both institutions.

The 2017–18 Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball team represented the University of Mississippi in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, their 108th basketball season. They were coached by Andy Kennedy for the first 27 games of the season before he left the position on February 19, 2018. The Rebels named assistant coach Tony Madlock interim head coach for the remainder of the season. The Rebels played their second full season in The Pavilion at Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi as members of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 12–20, 5–13 in SEC play to finish in last place. They lost in the first round of the SEC tournament to South Carolina.

The Monarchs, led by first-year head coach Nikki McCray-Penson, played their home games at Ted Constant Convocation Center and were members of Conference USA.
The 1923 Ole Miss Rebels football team was an American football team that represented the University of Mississippi in the Southern Conference during the 1923 college football season. In their second season under head coach Roland Cowell, the Rebels compiled a 4–6 record.
Peggie Gillom-Granderson is a chaplain at the University of Mississippi since 2009. Before starting her religious position, Gillom played on the Ole Miss Rebels women's basketball team between 1976 and 1980. During her time at Ole Miss, Gillom set career records for Mississippi with 2,486 points and 1,271 rebounds. After university, Gillom briefly played in the Women's Professional Basketball League for a year with the Dallas Diamonds. As an assistant coach, Gillom worked with Ole Miss from 1981 to 1997 before continuing her assistant coaching tenure in the Women's National Basketball Association. With the Houston Comets, Gillom and her team won the 1997 WNBA Championship.
