Roger F. Wendt was a Democratic member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing the 2nd District from 2003 until 2011, though he stepped down from the Iowa House in February 2010 due to serious illness. He died on March 30, 2011, from lung cancer.

Swati A. Dandekar is a former Iowa state legislator and former U.S. Executive Director at the Asian Development Bank. She is a Democratic member of the Iowa Utilities Board, awaiting Senate confirmation in 2012. Previously, she was a member of the Iowa House of Representatives for the 36th District from 2003 to 2009 and a member of the Iowa Senate for the 18th District from 2009 to 2011. She received her B.S. degree in Biology and Chemistry from Nagpur University and a graduate diploma in dietetics from University of Mumbai. As of 2011 Dandekar serves as the Chair of the National Foundation for Women Legislators and as a board member of the Iowa Math and Science Coalition, the Greater Cedar Rapids Foundation, and the Belin-Blank International Center for Gifted & Talented. Dandekar previously served on the Iowa Association of School Boards, and as a board member of the Women in Public Policy, and the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy. On July 23, 2013 Dandekar announced that she would be running for the U.S. Congress from the 1st congressional district; she lost in the primary to former state house speaker Pat Murphy, who himself lost to Rod Blum.
Donovan Olson is a former Iowa State Representative from the 48th District. A Democrat, he served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2003 until 2011, when he lost re-election to Republican Chip Baltimore. He received his BA and MCRP from Iowa State University.

John R. Whitaker is the head of the United States Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency in Iowa, a former Iowa State Representative from the 90th District, and a former assistant House majority leader. He served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2003 until his July 17, 2009 resignation from the House to accept an appointment to head the USDA's Farm Service Agency in Iowa. A special election to fill his seat took place on September 1, 2009.
Paul C. Shomshor, Jr. is a former Iowa State Representative from the 100th District. He served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2003, when he was elected in a special election, until 2011. He received his BA and MA from Baylor University.
There were two sets of 2006 Iowa House of Representatives elections. The first, the general election, was held on November 7. The second, a special election for District 52, was held on December 12. The representatives-elect from both sets of elections were inaugurated on January 3, 2007. The Iowa House, like the United States House of Representatives, is up for re-election in its entirety every two years. Prior to the elections, the Republicans were in the majority; following inauguration, the Democrats were in the majority – this marked the first time in 42 years that the Democrats had controlled both branches of the Iowa General Assembly and the Governor's Office at the same time.
James Robert Van Fossen is a former Republican member of the Iowa House of Representatives, from the 84th district, first elected in 2002. Democrat Elesha Gayman defeated him in the Iowa House of Representatives elections, 2006. Van Fossen retired from the Davenport, Iowa police department in 2000 with the rank of Captain. His son, Jamie Van Fossen, is also a former member of the Iowa House, from the 81st district.
