Downtown Science is the second solo studio album by American hip hop producer Blockhead. [4] It was released on Ninja Tune in 2005. [5]

Blockhead (music producer) American musician

Tony Simon, better known by his stage name Blockhead, is an American hip hop record producer and disc jockey from Manhattan, New York. Aside from his solo efforts released on the Ninja Tune label, he is most associated with producing tracks for Aesop Rock. He has been a member of the groups such as Party Fun Action Committee and The Mighty Jones.

Critical reception

Chris Ingold of MusicOMH said, "this is an album to stick on your iPod as you walk through Manhattan at night, even if it's a pretend Manhattan in your home town miles away." [3] Jason Crock of Pitchfork gave the album a 6.6 out of 10, saying, "Downtown Science could have been a sleek limousine ride through Blockhead's version of New York, but we'll have to settle for an appropriately funky cab ride." [4]

Baby Dayliner is a musical recording and performing artist from and based out of New York City. He was born and raised in New York City, and went to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, also known as the high school from the 1980 film Fame. He briefly attended St. John's College in Annapolis, MD and then he dropped out before graduating. After varying roles in various bands, Marunas decided to take the stage as a solo act. He became deft at synths, samplers, and recording, and began crafting songs that would be performed in the Baby Dayliner stage show.
