Drumcorps is the metal/breakcore musical project of American musician Aaron Spectre. [1] He is currently based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. [2]

Spectre was born and raised in rural Massachusetts. He began Drumcorps after moving to Berlin to branch out creatively. He describes Drumcorps's sound as "solid songwriting mixed with an upfront intensity, human heart & soul mixed with machine precision". [3] In 2007, Grist won the Sound Art Award at Austria's Ars Electronica. [4] [5]

In 2015, Spectre recorded with drummer Igor Cavalera (of Sepultura, Soulwax, Cavalera Conspiracy, and Mixhell) for his album Falling Forward. [6]

Sepultura is a Brazilian heavy metal band from Belo Horizonte. Formed in 1984 by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, the band was a major force in the groove metal, thrash metal and death metal genres during the late 1980s and early 1990s, with their later experiments drawing influence from alternative metal, world music, nu metal, hardcore punk, and industrial metal. Roots is the sixth studio album by Brazilian metal band Sepultura. It was released in Europe on February 20, 1996 and in the U.S. three weeks later on March 12 by Roadrunner Records. It is the band's last studio album to feature founding member and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Max Cavalera.

Breakcore is a style and microgenre of electronic dance music that emerged from jungle, hardcore, and drum and bass in the mid-to-late 1990s. It is characterized by very complex and intricate breakbeats and a wide palette of sampling sources played at high tempos.

Isis (band) American post-metal band (1997–2010)

Isis was an American post-metal band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1997. The band borrowed from and helped to evolve the post-metal sound pioneered by bands such as Neurosis and Godflesh, characterized by lengthy songs focusing on repetition and evolution of structure. Isis's last studio album, Wavering Radiant, was released on May 5, 2009. Isis disbanded in June 2010, just before the release of a split EP with the Melvins. In 2018, the group reformed as Celestial for a one-off show to pay tribute to Caleb Scofield.

The album's title is derived from philosopher Jeremy Bentham's panopticon prison ideal and philosopher/historian Michel Foucault's later allegorical appropriation of the concept. The liner notes also include quotes from technology writer Howard Rheingold and futurist Alex Steffen; as a concept album, Panopticon's focus is on the proliferation of surveillance technologies throughout modern society and the government's role in that spread.

Aaron Turner American musician (born 1977)

Aaron Turner is an American musician, singer, graphic artist, and founder of label Hydra Head Records. He is most widely known for his role as guitarist and vocalist for the post-metal bands SUMAC and Isis, while also participating in several other bands and projects such as Old Man Gloom, Lotus Eaters and Split Cranium, a collaboration with Jussi Lehtisalo of Finnish band Circle who toured with Isis in 2009.

Cavalera Conspiracy American heavy metal band, founded 2007

Cavalera Conspiracy is an American heavy metal supergroup founded by Brazilian brothers Max and Igor Cavalera (drums), currently performing along with American musicians Marc Rizzo and Tony Campos (bass). The band originally formed in 2007 as Inflikted but changed its name for legal reasons. The group's creation marked the end of a 10-year feud between the Cavalera brothers who founded Sepultura in the early 1980s.

Kirby Allan was an American record producer who is best remembered for his work with Chaino, in the musical genre of Exotica, and the Jungle variant of Tiki culture music. Their collaboration and unusual marketing strategy began with a series of albums in the late 1950s. Those albums continue to be released as recently as 2016.

<i>If Youre Into It, Im Out of It</i> 1997 studio album by Christoph de Babalon

If You're Into It, I'm Out of It is the second album by electronic producer Christoph de Babalon, initially released on September 15, 1997 through Digital Hardcore Recordings. The album is considered a standout record on the label and has been acclaimed for its idiosyncratic dark and heavy atmosphere while achieving a combination of dark ambient and early breakcore, in addition to drum and bass. Since its release, it has gained a cult following and received critical praise. A remastered edition of the album was later issued as a double disc LP set through Christoph de Babalon's Cross Fade Enter Tainment imprint.

<i>Greg Hates Car Culture</i> 1999 EP by Venetian Snares

Greg Hates Car Culture is a breakcore EP released by Venetian Snares in 1999 on Minneapolis-based label History of the Future. It was his first official release and led to him being signed by Planet Mu. Twenty years later, a re-mastered version was re-released with three extra tracks on Timesig, a sublabel of Planet Mu. The tracks were originally made using an Amiga 500 and an effects pedal.
