Dubai TV is a Emirati TV channel offered by the Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI). It replaced Emirates Dubai Television on 14 June 2004. Dubai TV broadcasts programmes predominantly in Arabic. The programming caters to family Arab audience specifically in the Arab world and is available in Australia, Europe, North America and the rest of Asia. A majority of its programming is produced locally in Dubai Media City. Dubai TV is a part of a four channel network owned by DMI. High-definition "HD" format is free and available on Nilesat and Yahsat.

Emirates Dubai Television was a television channel transmitting terrestrially out of Dubai in Arabic targeting the expat community in the U.A.E. It was founded in 1971, following a service that existed between 9 September 1969 and 1972 funded by Kuwait Television. This initial service broadcast to Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, with the majority of the content being sourced from Kuwait, as well as local news bulletins. After the launch of Dubai Television, this service shut down in December 1972. Habib Al-Reda was the director of this first service, who was later appointed as assistant undersecretary in the Ministry of Media and Culture in the Northern Emirates up until 2003, when he died.

Mass media in the United Arab Emirates is subject to government control and censorship. Media freedom is severely curtailed in the UAE. Most UAE media is owned by the government or by groups that have ties to the government. UAE law permits the government to censor content critical of the government. Journalists and writers who criticize the government are subject to repression.

Antoine Choueiri was a billionaire Lebanese media executive. He was the founder of Choueiri Group, the Middle East's largest media broker.

Mohammed Saeed Harib is an animator from the United Arab Emirates, accredited as the creator and producer of FREEJ; an animated UAE cartoon series.
