Dwayne Tan is a Singaporean actor and singer.

Biography

Tan graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York. [1] He began his training at the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company (SAF MDC). He is also a Singapore Repertory Theatre Young Company (SRT YC) alumnus and a member of the Association of Singapore Actors.

He began acting in Singapore with Theatreworks' musical, Beauty World and has worked with many other theatre companies.

His work occasionally extends into TV and radio. Tan was one of the top 30 contestants in the 1st season of Singapore Idol. Tan has also lent his voice to many characters in cartoons like One Piece , the second Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters), and Machine Robo Rescue . For 5 years, he hosted the Sunday morning show on the arts radio station Passion 99.5FM.

He became a finalist on Singapore Idol; due to this he produced his Moments Alone, an EP. [2]

He also released his novel, "My Cup of Teh-O: A Singaporean Boy's Search for Home in America", which is a narrative loosely based on his life in New York City. On his official website, there are links to sample chapters of his work. [3]

On film, Tan has appeared in Cyber Wars (starring Joan Chen) and was involved in a scene as a New York tourist with Susan Sarandon, in Disney's Enchanted.

Tan has been trained in puppeteering.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kazuki Takahashi. It was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine between September 1996 and March 2004. Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, also known in Japan as Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX, is a Japanese anime television series. It is a spin-off and sequel to the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series, which itself is based on the original manga series of the same title by Kazuki Takahashi. It was broadcast for 180 episodes on TV Tokyo from October 2004 to March 2008. Yu-Gi-Oh! GX follows the exploits of Jaden Yuki and his companions as he attends Duel Academia. The series was released in English in North America by 4Kids Entertainment. A manga adaptation by Naoyuki Kageyama was serialized in Shueisha's magazine V Jump from December 2005 to March 2011, with its chapters collected in nine tankōbon volumes. The series was followed by Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's in 2008.

Beauty World is a Singaporean musical written by Michael Chiang and composed by Dick Lee. Drawing on the tradition of 1950s black-and-white Cantonese movies, it tells the story of a young Malaysian girl who comes from Batu Pahat to 1960s Singapore in search of her father and winds up in the eponymous sleazy night club. It premiered at the 1988 Singapore Arts Festival.

Kelvin Tan Wei Lian is a Singaporean former Mandopop singer who earned a living as a busker before he won the first edition of Project SuperStar in 2005. He has released three albums, All I Want Is... (2006), i-Weilian (2007) and Moving Notes...Kelvin Tan (2009). He also had a solo concert at the Singapore Expo, lead a choir at the opening ceremony at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and singing Singapore's 2009 National Day Parade's theme song.

Tan Howe Liang, is a Singaporean weightlifter who was the first Singaporean to win an Olympic Games medal. He did this in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome where he won the silver medal in the lightweight category. Tan also broke the oldest-standing world record in the lightweight category in the clean and jerk in 1958. He was the only Singaporean Olympic medalist until the 2008 Summer Olympics.

The manga began serialization in Shueisha's V Jump magazine from December 2010 to June 2015 and is licensed in North America by Viz Media. The anime series was produced by Nihon Ad Systems and TV Tokyo, and its animation was done by Gallop. It aired on TV Tokyo from April 2011 to September 2012, with an English-language version airing in North America between October 2011 and August 2013. A sequel series, titled Yu-Gi-Oh! <i>Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters</i> Japanese anime television series

Yu-Gi-Oh!, known in Japan as Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters and alternatively subtitled Rulers of the Duel in the United States and Canada, is a Japanese anime series animated by Studio Gallop based on the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga series written by Kazuki Takahashi. It is the second anime adaptation of the manga following the 1998 anime television series produced by Toei Animation. The series revolves around a young high school boy named Yugi Muto who battles opponents in the Duel Monsters card game. The series begins from chapter 60 in volume 7 before loosely adapting the remaining chapters of the original manga by making story changes that conflict with the events of the manga canon.

Tan Seet Eng, also known by the English nameDan Tan, is a Singaporean businessman. He has faced charges of match fixing in Italy since 2011 and Hungary since 2013 as part of the Calcio scommesse scandal. Despite Interpol considering him the "boss" of the "world's largest and most aggressive match-fixing syndicate", he was not arrested in Singapore until late 2013 since it lacks an extradition treaty with the European Union.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, stylized as Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V, is a Japanese anime series animated by Gallop. It is the fourth spin-off anime series in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise following Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal. The series aired in Japan on TV Tokyo from April 6, 2014 to March 26, 2017. The series is licensed outside Japan by Konami Cross Media NY and launched internationally in 2015.

David Tan is a Singaporean law professor at the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law. He was the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs from January 2015 to June 2021. His legal scholarship covers intellectual and intangible property law. He is also a fine art and fashion photographer, with exhibitions presented by Cartier and Versace.
