Dylan DeSean Stewart (born September 14, 2005) is an American football defensive end for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Stewart attended Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington, D.C.. As a junior in 2022, he had 16 sacks. Stewart was selected to play in the 2024 Under Armour All-America Game. [1] A five-star recruit, he committed to the University of South Carolina to play college football. [2] [3] [4]
In his first collegiate game his true freshman year at South Carolina in 2024, he had four tackles, 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. [5] [6]
In an October 2024 game against the University of Mississippi Rebels, the Gamecocks were given a 15-yard Unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after Stewart sacked quarterback Jaxson Dart, then mimed shooting Dart repeatedly with a shotgun. [7] The Rebels went on to win the game, 27-3.
André Goodman is an American former professional football player who was a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Detroit Lions in the third round, third pick of the 2002 NFL draft. He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Goodman also played for the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos.
Carlos DeShaun Hall is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the seventh round of the 2002 NFL draft. He also played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos. He played college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Damione Ramon Lewis is an American football coach and former player who is currently the defensive line coach for the University of Colorado. He played professionally as a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). Lewis played college football for the Miami Hurricanes before being selected by the St. Louis Rams in the first round of the 2001 NFL draft. He also played in the NFL for the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, and Houston Texans. After his playing career, he became a defensive assistant for the Seattle Seahawks.
Captain Lesean Munnerlyn is an American former professional football player who was a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks for three years. He was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL draft. Munnerlyn also played for the Minnesota Vikings.
Eric Norwood is a former American football defensive end. He was most recently a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL from 2013 to 2015. He formerly played for the University of South Carolina. During his collegiate career, he set school career records in tackles for loss (54.5) and quarterback sacks (29). With numerous conference and national honors, Norwood is one of the most decorated defensive players in SEC history and has drawn comparisons to James Harrison. Norwood was considered a top linebacker prospect for the 2010 NFL draft; he was selected in the fourth round, 124 overall by the Carolina Panthers.
The 1969 South Carolina Gamecocks football team represented the University of South Carolina as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) during the 1969 NCAA University Division football season. Led by fourth-year head coach Paul Dietzel, the Gamecocks compiled an overall record of 7–4 with a mark of 6–0 in conference play, winning the ACC title, which remains their only conference championship in program history. It was also South Carolina's first winning season since 1959. South Carolina was invited to the Peach Bowl, where they were defeated by West Virginia. The team played home games at Carolina Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina.
Jadeveon Davarus Clowney is an American professional football linebacker for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks, where he won the Ted Hendricks Award, and was selected first overall by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL draft. Clowney was a member of the Texans for five seasons, earning three consecutive Pro Bowl selections during his final years with the team. Following his departure from Houston, he played with the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens.

The Georgia–South Carolina football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Georgia Bulldogs and South Carolina Gamecocks. The series started in 1894 and was played intermittently over the next several decades. The series then became much more frequent, being played almost every year from 1958 to 1989. After the Gamecocks joined the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the rivalry was played annually from 1992 to 2023. As a result of SEC expansion, it ceased to be an annual matchup in 2024, although there is speculation that the two could become permanent annual rivals again if the SEC moves to a nine-game conference schedule. Georgia leads the series 55–19–2.
