History

Dynamix II was founded in 1985 by David Noller hailing from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. David Noller got his start spinning in skating rinks and night clubs. After graduating high school, he attended the Full Sail School for the Recording Arts in Winter Park, Florida where he earned his degree in recording arts. In 1986 David signed to Bass Station Records in Miami, Florida and founded Dynamix II. [3]

Noller teamed up with Lon Alonzo and released "Just Give the DJ a Break"/"Straight from the Jungle"" 12" vinyl on Bass Station Records in Miami. [4] The song went gold, selling well over 600,000 copies in to date. The track peaked at #50 in the UK Singles Chart in 1987. [2]

Noller and Alonzo released only one further 12" vinyl single "Feel The Bass with MC Kid Money & Techno Bass" before dissolving their partnership. Noller retained the Dynamix II title, and then briefly partnered with Claudio Barrella to release the 12" vinyl "Bass Generator/Ignition" & "Dont Touch That Dial". Claudio Barella left the band in 1990.

Noller released one album solo available on vinyl and CD as "Dynamix II The Album" which included a remix of Just Give the DJ a break with Breezy Beat MC / The Arrival of Bass/Purple Beats with Alex J. Noller.

In 1990, Scott Weiser auditioned and signed on with the band and they released the full length CD Album "You Hear it You Fear it" which included "Just Give The DJ A Break (Ultimate Remix)"/"Techno Bass (Remix)", "Feel the Groove", "Machine Language EP", Bass Planet album, Electro Bass Compilation and Color Beats Collection vol 1 on the Dynamix II Music label.

Dynamix II then signed to Monotone USA to release the 12" single of Pledge Your Allegiance to Electro Funk/Sedona. Dynamix II then released the 12" vinyl of "Ignition Remix/A5 Style" on Freakin USA.

In 1998 the group gained exposure when Richard James' (Aphex Twin) Rephlex label reissued the Electro Megamix: 1985-Present collection. [5] [6]

In 2014 Scott Weiser left the group to pursue his other music project, (Jackal and Hyde).

Breakbeat is a broad type of electronic music that tends to use drum breaks sampled from early recordings of funk, jazz, and R&B. Breakbeats have been used in styles such as hip hop, jungle, drum and bass, big beat, breakbeat hardcore, and UK garage styles.

Miami bass is a subgenre of hip hop music that became popular in the 1980s and 1990s. The use of drums from the Roland TR-808, sustained kick drum, heavy bass, raised dance tempos, and frequently sexually explicit lyrical content differentiate it from other hip hop subgenres. Music author Richie Unterberger has characterized Miami bass as using rhythms with a "stop-start flavor" and "hissy" cymbals with lyrics that "reflected the language of the streets, particularly Miami's historically black neighborhoods such as Liberty City, Goulds, and Overtown".

Electro is a genre of electronic music and early hip hop directly influenced by the use of the Roland TR-808 drum machines, and funk. Records in the genre typically feature drum machines and heavy electronic sounds, usually without vocals, although if vocals are present they are delivered in a deadpan manner, often through electronic distortion such as vocoding and talkboxing. This is the main distinction between electro and previously prominent genres such as disco, in which the electronic sound was only part of the instrumentation. It also palpably deviates from its predecessor boogie by being less vocal-oriented and more focused on electronic beats produced by drum machines.

Florida breaks, which may also be referred to as The Orlando Sound, Orlando breaks, or The Breaks, is a genre of breakbeat dance music that originated in the central region of the State of Florida, United States. Florida Breaks originates from a mixture of hip-hop, Miami bass and electro that often includes recognizable sampling of early jazz or funk beats from rare groove or popular film. Florida's breakbeat style feature vocal elements and retains the hip-hop rhythms on which is based. The Florida breakbeat style however is faster, more syncopated, and has a heavier and unrelenting bassline. The beat frequently slows and breaks down complex beat patterns and then rebuilds. The genre has been described as being easy to dance to while creating an uplifting, happy, or positive mood in the listener.

A megamix is a remix containing multiple songs in rapid succession. It often features various artists. There may be only one verse or even just a brief chorus of each song used, sometimes in addition to samples of the same or other songs. It is common to use different samples to maintain and sometimes even ridicule the original. To unify the songs together smoothly, a single backing beat may be added as background throughout the megamix, although this is not a must. This backing beat is kept basic so as to simplify mixing and to not compete with the music. These mixes are usually several minutes long at minimum, going up to a half-hour or an hour, or even more sometimes.

Storm the Studio is the debut album by English electronic music group Meat Beat Manifesto, released on 20 February 1989 by Sweatbox Records in the United Kingdom and later that year by Wax Trax! in the United States. The record's inventive musical style features elements of industrial music, electro, dub, noise rock and hip hop music, and incorporates breakbeats, noise and sporadic rap vocals. The group also incorporated heavy usage of sampling in a fashion they compared to pop art. Television was a further influence on the record, and numerous items of television dialogue appear throughout Storm the Studio as samples.
