EDGE Design Institute Ltd. is an architecture and interior design firm founded by Gary Chang in 1994.

History

The studio, EDGE, was established in 1994 by Gary Chang in Hong Kong. It was then renamed to EDGE Design Institute Ltd. in 2003. Soon after the establishment, the studio had numerous notable projects including the Broadway Cinematheque in Yau Ma Tei, office for the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) & Architects Registration Board, and the Suitcase House of the Commune by The Great Wall. [1]

EDGE’s project ACTS Rednaxela received Design For Asia Merit award from Hong Kong Design Centre [2] and was featured in Apple TV’s Home (2020 TV series). [3] The building model is exhibited at M+ museum of West Kowloon Cultural District. [4]

Blue House refers to a 4-storey balcony-type tenement block located at 72-74A Stone Nullah Lane, Wan Chai, Hong Kong. It is named after the blue colour painted on its external walls. It is one of the few remaining examples of tong lau of the balcony type in Hong Kong and is listed as a Grade I historic building.

Mathias Woo Yan Wai is a Chinese designer. He joined the arts collective Zuni Icosahedron in 1988 and is now the Executive Director cum Co-Artistic Director of the group. He is known for his cost effective, flexible designs which focus on spatial qualities. Chang’s designs can be categorized as modern or contemporary architecture. He is also known for his home, the Domestic Transformer, which can turn into "24 rooms" within a limited space of 32 sq.m. He is currently the Managing Director of EDGE Design Institute Ltd., the renowned company he founded in 1994.

Ronald Lu & Partners is a Hong Kong architecture and interior design firm founded by Ronald Lu in 1976. The practice provides architecture, interior design and master planning services in various sectors including culture and community, education, mix-used, commercial, residential, hotel and retail and transit-oriented development.
