eLiiga was a Finnish esports league that was played in the NHL video game series. The teams competing in the tournament were real ice hockey teams that play in the Liiga, the top-tier league of Finland. The league was hosted by Liiga and Telia. [1] Only the top-eight teams could make it into the playoffs. The playoffs were played in a best-of-three series, but the final was played in a best-of-five series.
The first eLiiga season was played from November 4th to December 13th in 2020. Tappara won the regular season and the playoffs. Tappara beat Jukurit 3-2 in the final series on 13 November. [2] [3]
The second eLiiga season was played from December 3rd 2021 to 25th February 2022. The championship was won by HC TPS. TPS beat Vaasan Sport 3-1 in the final series. [4] HIFK Hockey won bronze. [5] The 2021–2022 season was sponsored by PlayStation.

eLiiga Late Night was a late night show that went over the eLiiga games and other ice hockey games. During the 2021–2022 season, the eLiiga Late Night was hosted by Joonas "Lärvinen" Järvinen and Ville Uusitalo, former captain of Porin Ässät. [6] [7] [1]
The SM-liiga, colloquially called the Finnish Elite League in English or FM-ligan in Swedish, is the top professional ice hockey league in Finland. It was created in 1975 to replace the SM-sarja, which was fundamentally an amateur league. The SM-liiga is not directly overseen by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association, but the league and association have an agreement of cooperation. SM is a common abbreviation for Suomen mestaruus, "Finnish championship".

On 13 March, the rest of the season, which included the final round of the regular season and all of playoffs, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pata also known as Porin Ässät is an esports team based in Pori, Finland. The team was founded in 2017. The team was founded in 2017 when Ässät picked up players of a team called REAKT. The team started with playing Overwatch and Counter Strike Global Offensive but dropped them and moved on to NHL video game series. PATA has not been active since 2022 when the eLiiga season ended in a 6th place.
