EV Zug is a professional men's ice hockey team from Zug, Switzerland. It is a member of the National League and plays its home games at the Bossard Arena.

History

EV Zug won its first championship in the 1997–98 season, and the second one in the 2020-21 season.

On October 3, 2011, the club defeated the New York Rangers of the NHL by the score of 8-4 in an exhibition game. [1] [2] Former NHLer Josh Holden, who at the time was suspended from the NLA, was permitted to play and scored twice. He and Fabian Schnyder each had three points and Esa Pirnes also had two goals. Former Ranger goaltender Jussi Markkanen had the win in net in front of a sellout crowd at Bossard Arena.

Bossard Arena is an indoor sporting arena located in Zug, Switzerland. The capacity of the arena is 7,800 spectators and opened in 2010. It hosts indoor sporting events such as ice hockey. It hosts the EV Zug of the National League (NL). It replaced Eishalle Herti as the home of EV Zug. The venue is named after Bossard Holding, an international logistics company headquartered in the city.

The Women's League, also known as the PostFinance Women's League (PFWL) for sponsorship reasons, is the premier ice hockey league in the Swiss Women's Hockey League (SWHL) system. The league was founded in 1986 as the Leistungsklasse A, abbreviated LKA, and was also officially known as the Ligue nationale A in French and the Lega Nazionale A in Italian, both abbreviated as LNA. During 2014 to 2019, the league was called the Swiss Women's Hockey League A, abbreviated SWHL A; the abbreviation has been used by the league following the 2019 name change.
