Earth to Andy is an American alternative rock band from Charlottesville, Virginia.

History

Earth to Andy was founded in 1997 by members of two local bands, Red Henry (from Charlottesville) and Egypt (from Washington D.C. [1] [2] The band's first release, Simple Machine, was released independently and featured a cover version of The Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)". [3] Following its release, the group signed with Giant Records and released Chronicle Kings late in 1999. The album was produced by Nick Launay [4] and included an appearance by the bass player of Stone Temple Pilots, Robert De Leo. [2] The group toured with Live, Stone Temple Pilots, and Jimmie's Chicken Shack in 2000. [5] [6] The album's lead single, "Still After You", was a rock radio hit, reaching #39 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts. [7] Guitarist Tony Lopacinski later played with Train [8] and has written, performed, and produced country music both in his own projects and alongside artists including Sarah Evans and Josh Gracin. Andy Waldeck has collaborated in songwriting endeavors with Robert DeLeo and Chris Daughtry. Drummer, Kevin Murphy, has since become an in-demand drummer in Nashville, playing for such artists as: Jon Pardi, Tonic, Randy Houser, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Frankie Ballard, Chuck Wicks, and many others. On June 15, 2011, guitarist Tony Lopacinski died after an 18-month battle with cancer.

Jimmie's Chicken Shack is an American alternative rock band from Annapolis, Maryland. They are best known for their single "High". In 1996 they signed to Elton John's Rocket Records and released two major-label albums, Pushing the Salmanilla Envelope and Bring Your Own Stereo. Both LPs enjoyed minor chart, radio, and MTV success and produced their best known hits "High" and "Do Right." After years of squabbling with their label and finally being set free from their contract, the band subsequently released two more albums independently, Re.Present and Fail on Cue.

Lloyd Dobler Effect was a Silver Spring, Maryland-based band formed in 1995 by Phil Kominski and Scott Shaw after departing their high school band, STUFF. They brought in drummer Donnie Williams and the name "Lloyd Dobler Effect". The band performed alternative rock music, which at times featured Latin rhythms, vocal harmonies and go-go percussive beats. The band was named after John Cusack’s character in the Cameron Crowe film Say Anything.. In 2019, Lloyd Dobler Effect broke up. Almost immediately it became the top indie label in the Mid-Atlantic region, specializing in alternative rock, punk, and jam bands. From 1998 to the closure of the label in 2002, Chris Smoker was the label manager.

Dogs of Peace are an American Christian rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, and they started making music together in 1995. They have released two studio albums, Speak (1996) and Heel (2016).
