East Tennessee Natural Gas Pipeline is a natural gas pipeline that brings gas from eastern Tennessee to Virginia and North Carolina. It was formerly owned by Duke Energy but is now owned by Enbridge. Its FERC code is 2. [1]

Characteristics

The East Tennessee Natural Gas Pipeline is a 1,510 mile long pipe (2430 km) operated by Enbridge. [2] Enbridge is a North American Energy Company who is in charge of the pipeline. [3] The pipeline runs from Tennessee to Roanoke, Virginia giving it a capacity of about 1.86 billion cubic feet per day. [2] The Texas Eastern Transmission Gas Pipeline, Tennessee Gas Pipeline, Columbia Gas Pipeline, Southern Natural Gas Pipeline, and the Midwestern Gas Transmission Company Gas Pipeline all interconnect with the East Tennessee Natural Gas Pipeline. Safety concerns

Back in December 2018, the East Tennessee Natural Gas Pipeline exploded which caused the pipeline to be temporarily out of service. [4] The incident affected customers until January 2019. [5] Residents impacted by this were advised to turn down thermostats, wash laundry in cold water, and anything else to help reduce the usage of natural gas. [5] In response to the incident, Enbridge completed repairs back in December. [6] The repairs were actually done sooner than expected because they were projected to be done in mid-January, but they were repaired in late December the same month the explosion occurred. [7]

Columbia Gas Transmission is a natural gas pipeline that gathers gas in the Gulf of Mexico and transports it to New York. Its pipelines are in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia. It is owned by TransCanada Corporation. Its FERC code is 21.

Columbia Gulf Transmission

Columbia Gulf Transmission gathers gas in the Gulf of Mexico and brings it to Columbia Gas Transmission. It is owned by TransCanada Corporation. Its FERC code is 70.

Enbridge Pipelines is a collection of four different systems of natural gas pipelines, all owned by Enbridge. They include the Enbridge Pipelines (AlaTenn) system, the Enbridge Pipelines (MidLa) system, the Enbridge Offshore Pipelines (UTOS) system, and the Enbridge Pipelines (KPC) system.

Gas Transmission Northwest (GTN) is a 1353 mile long natural gas pipeline built in 1961 with a capacity of 2,900 million cubic feet per day. It brings gas from Alberta, Canada, beginning at Kingsgate, British Columbia and passing through Washington and terminates at Malin, Oregon then connecting to California, connecting to the Pacific Gas and Electric system. Prior to being purchased by TransCanada Corporation in 2004, it was named Pacific Gas Transmission. TransCanada subsequently sold 25 percent of its interest in GTN to TC PipeLines, LP, which connects via the Tuscarora Gas Pipeline. GTN's FERC code is 86.

Great Lakes Transmission is a natural gas pipeline that brings gas from western Canada through Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan before re-entering Canada. Along the way it provides gas to ANR Pipeline. Its FERC code is 51.

Gulfstream Natural Gas Pipeline is a natural gas pipeline that brings gas from Mississippi and Alabama, underwater across the Gulf of Mexico, to Florida. It was owned by Duke Energy, but is now owned by Enbridge. Its FERC code is 183.

Iroquois Gas Transmission System is a natural gas pipeline that brings gas from eastern Canada to the New York City area.

Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGPL) is a set of natural gas pipelines that run from the Texas and Louisiana coast through Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Pennsylvania to deliver natural gas in West Virginia, New Jersey, New York, and New England. The 11,900-mile (19,200 km) long system is operated by the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan. It is one of the largest pipeline systems in the United States. Its FERC code is 9. TGP's PHMSA pipeline operator i.d. is 19160.

Texas Eastern Pipeline (TETCo) is a major natural gas pipeline which brings gas from the Gulf of Mexico coast in Texas and Louisiana up through Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania to deliver gas in the New York City area. It is one of the largest pipeline systems in the United States. It is owned by Enbridge. Its FERC code is 17.

Vector Pipeline L.P. is a 348-mile-long natural gas pipeline which transports approximately 1 billion cubic feet (28,000,000 m3) per day of natural gas from Joliet, Illinois, in the Chicago area, to parts of Indiana and Michigan and into Ontario, Canada. The pipeline is important in the supply and transportation of natural gas from the United States and Western Canada to the Midwest, eastern Canada and the northeastern United States, supplying power generation plants, natural gas distribution companies, and natural gas storage facilities. Westcoast Pipeline

The Westcoast Pipeline, also known as the Westcoast Transmission System or the BC Pipeline, is a natural gas pipeline in British Columbia that brings natural gas from the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin south to the province's heavily populated Lower Mainland. It connects to the Northwest Pipeline in the United States and east to TransCanada pipeline. Built in 1957 by Frank McMahon's Westcoast Transmission Co. Ltd., the 650-mile gas pipeline from Taylor in north-eastern British Columbia to the United States was Canada's first "big-inch" pipeline.

Spectra Energy U.S. energy company

Spectra Energy Corp, headquartered in Houston, Texas, operated in three key areas of the natural gas industry: transmission and storage, distribution, and gathering and processing. Spectra was formed in late 2006 from the spin-off from Duke Energy. Spectra owned the Texas Eastern Pipeline (TETCo), a major natural gas pipeline which brings gas from the Gulf of Mexico coast in Texas to the New York City area, which was one of the largest pipeline systems in the United States. Spectra also operated three oil pipelines. In February 2017, Spectra Energy merged into the Canadian company Enbridge.
