Edward D. "Stainless" Steele (August 8,1915 - October 1,1978) was an American professional baseball outfielder in the Negro leagues,and minor leagues. He played in the Negro leagues with the Birmingham Black Barons from 1942 to 1950. He played in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league system in 1952 with the Hollywood Stars and the Denver Bears. [1]
Samuel Harding Hairston was a Negro league baseball and Major League Baseball player. He played for the Birmingham Black Barons and the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro leagues and played part of one season with the Chicago White Sox as a catcher. He is buried in Birmingham's Elmwood Cemetery.
Jacinto "Jack" Calvo González was born Jacinto Del Calvo in Havana,Cuba. He was an outfielder for the Washington Senators in 1913 and 1920. Samuel Howard Bankhead was an American baseball player in the Negro leagues. He played from 1931 to 1951. He also played for the Dragones de Ciudad Trujillo along with Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson. In 1951,he became the first black coach in Minor League Baseball when he was a player-manager for the Farnham Pirates of the Provincial League. He played in several East-West all-star games from 1933 to 1946.
David Barnhill was an American Negro league baseball pitcher. Barnhill played from 1937 to 1949,mostly with the New York Cubans. He also played for the New York Giants in the minor leagues from 1949 to 1953,in the American Association and the Florida International League.
Valentín "Sirique" González was a Cuban baseball center fielder in the Cuban League. He played from 1890 to 1912 with several ballclubs,mostly with the Habana club. He also played for the Jacksonville Jays of the South Atlantic League in 1905 and 1906. He was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939.
