Eddie Halliwell (born 1979 or 1980) is an English electronic dance music disc jockey who plays techno, house and trance music. Known for his live performances he has regularly featured in the DJ Mag top 100 DJ list, and has performed several times on the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix show.
Halliwell grew up in Wigan, England. He learnt the DJ trade as a "bedroom" DJ, then coming onto the scene with not only "flawless" mixing skills but also the reported scratching ability of a turntablist. His first residency in Ibiza started in 2001 at Judgement Sundays. He also went on to have a residency at Cream in the Amnesia club. [2] Halliwell rose to prominence mainly due to his "lightning-wristed deck trickery" and an ability to make "the dance floor erupt". [3] [4] The crowds at his live shows are known to chant the "infamous" refrain “EDDIE! EDDIE! EDDIE!”. [3] [5]
In January 2002 the music magazine Mixmag featured a cover CD mixed by Halliwell. The album, Bosh!, had Halliwell's high energy and "scratchtastic" approach and featured tracks by artists such as Marco V, Signum and Tony De Vit. In 2015 Mixmag reported it had achieved the rare level of popularity sufficient to justify a sequel. [6]
Halliwell has been featured several times in the DJ Mag annual top 100 DJ ranking, including being voted into the top 20 for 4 years running. [3] In both 2005 and 2006 he was ranked #17, followed by #16 in 2007, and #19 in 2008. [7] [8] [9] [4] Mixmag magazine also rated him at #9 in its world top DJ poll in 2009. [3]
Halliwell hosted regular dance music shows on BBC Radio 1 from 2005 to 2008, including co-fronting the Residency series. [1] [10] He has also performed DJ mixes on seven occasions for the Pete Tong Essential Mix show, including a live set from Creamfields in 2011. [3] [11]
In 2008 Halliwell released a mix album, Fire It Up, named after the club night he started. It was considered "too hard for some", but did showcase his talent. [12] In 2011 he recorded the cover CD for the August issue of DJ Mag. That same year he started the record label FIUR, and also moved into production with his debut single, "Neon". This was reported as a significant move as, until this point, DJing rather than production had been his "No.1 passion". [13] In 2012 Halliwell released the album Toolroom Knights under Mark Knight's Toolroom record label. The album charted at number 28 in the UK Dance Album chart and received positive critical reception with journalist Gregory Paratore stating "it's filled with hip-hop style cuts and scratches, showing exactly why Halliwell is able to thrill fans around the world with his quick mix style". Halliwell hosts and presents a regular podcast and radio show called Fire It Up. The 100th anniversary of the show was celebrated in June 2011 at a live event at the Sankeys club in Manchester. As of February 2024 the show has c. 15 million listeners worldwide. [5] [16] [17]

Richard "Richie" Hawtin is a British-Canadian electronic musician and DJ. He became involved with Detroit techno's second wave in the early 1990s, and has been a leading exponent of minimal techno since the mid-1990s. He became known for his recordings under the Plastikman and F.U.S.E. aliases. Under the latter, he released his debut album Dimension Intrusion (1993) as part of Warp's Artificial Intelligence series.
Antony de Vit was an English DJ and music producer. He is considered one of the most influential of his generation. He was credited with helping to take the "hard house" and fast "hard NRG" sounds out of the London and Birmingham gay scene into mainstream clubs. His single "Burning Up" reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart in March 1995, with "To the Limit" making number 44 in September 1995. During that year, he won BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix of the Year Award, as voted by listeners of the show, and Music Week's re-mix of Year Award for Louise's "Naked". He remixed several UK top 40 hits during his career with artists such as Taylor Dayne and East 17. Between 1994 and 1998 his popularity with the clubbing public was rivaled by only Paul Oakenfold and Carl Cox. In September 2010, Mixmag UK announced the nominations of 35 DJs chosen by other big names in the world of dance music as those they considered the best DJs ever. A subsequent 15-month survey, which polled hundreds of thousands of global votes, asked who was the "greatest DJ of all time" and when the result was announced in January 2011, de Vit was ranked number 9.

Since 2001, he has hosted A State of Trance (ASOT), a weekly radio show, which is broadcast to nearly 40 million listeners in 84 countries on over 100 FM radio stations. According to the website DJs and Festivals, "the radio show propelled him to stardom and helped cultivate an interest in trance music around the world".

Uroš Umek, better known as DJ Umek or simply UMEK, is a Slovenian dance music producer and DJ. Musically active since 1993, he is the owner of several techno record labels. In 1999 he founded Consumer Recreation and Recycled Loops, the former of which he co-runs with Valentino Kanzyani. Recycled Loops formed the sublabel Earresistible Musick in 2001, and in 2007 Umek founded the large techno label 1605.

Jordy van Egmond, known professionally as Dyro, is a Dutch DJ and EDM producer. Since 2010 he has released original singles and remixes on labels such as Revealed Recordings, Musical Freedom, and Def Jam, and has also released official remixes for tracks such as "Right Now" by Rihanna and "Iron" by Nicky Romero and Calvin Harris. He collaborated with Tiësto on a single titled "Paradise" in 2013, and also that year he collaborated with Hardwell on the single "Never Say Goodbye". Featuring Bright Lights, it peaked at No. 23 on the UK Dance Chart. In 2014 Dyro ranked No. 27 on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list.

Diamanté Anthony Blackmon, known professionally as Gordo and formerly known as Carnage, is a Guatemalan-American DJ, record producer, and former rapper. Born in Guatemala and raised in Frederick, Maryland, he first saw recognition for his DJ mixes and live performances at music festivals such as Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival. While releasing EDM-oriented singles, he occasionally performed as a recording artist; however, he has since retired from doing so, along with his Carnage stage name in favor of Gordo in 2022, and has since worked solely in production for other artists.
