Eddie Valenzuela Barillas (born 22 December 1982) is a Guatemalan amateur boxer who qualified to the 2008 Olympic Games at flyweight.
Valenzuela, a native of Guatemala City, was the first Guatemalan boxer to reach the Olympics in 16 years. [1] At the Beijing Games, he lost the only fight he contested, in the round of 32, against Thai boxer Somjit Jongjohor, [2] who was the eventual gold medal winner.
In 2009 he reached the third round at the amateur world boxing championship in Milan Italy, ranking as one of the best 16 amateur boxers at the flyweight division. He also participated at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games and at the 2011 Pan American Games.
Gilberto Román was a Mexican professional boxer in the Super Flyweight division and a member of the 1980 Mexican Olympic team. Román was a two-time WBC and Lineal Super Flyweight Champion and is considered by many fans to be one of the great champions in this division. Gilberto was trained by Boxing Hall of Famer Ignacio Beristáin.

Guatemala competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, People's Republic of China from August 8 to August 24, 2008. In what was the country's fourteenth Summer Olympics since its debut at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. A total of twelve athletes competed in nine sports and twelve distinct events. It was the lowest number of participants for Guatemala since the 1980 Games in Moscow, USSR. Three of the twelve athletes were taking part in their second Olympics, and one of them, race walker Luis García, participated in his fourth. In any event that involved a progression through rounds, the Guatemalan athletes did not advance past the first round; as of the Beijing Olympics, there had yet to be a Guatemalan medalist. At the opening ceremony, badminton player Kevin Cordón bore Guatemala's flag.

Devendro Singh Laishram, also known as Devendro Singh or Devendro Laishram, is an Indian boxer from Imphal West district, Manipur who competes in the light-flyweight division. Devendro represented India at the 2012 Summer Olympics and lost out in the quarter finals in a tough bout against the eventual bronze medalist Irish boxer Paddy Barnes. Devendro qualified for the Olympics after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Baku. In 2013 Devendro won the silver medal at the Asian Confederation Boxing Championship. In August 2014 he won the silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He competed against Paddy Barnes, who was representing Northern Ireland and settled for a Silver medal.
