Edith Wisah Mukuvilani aka Edith Wisa (born 20 July 1994) is a Kenyan volleyball player in the Kenya women's national volleyball team who has played for Kenya at two Olympics.
Mukuvilani comes from the town of Kakamega [1] and she was born in 1994[ citation needed ] and she went to school in Lugulu. [2]
She began to play volleyball professionally for the Kenya Prisons team in the 2013/2014 season. [3]
In 2018 she was invited with the rest of the National team to a celebration meal in Nairobi before the team flew on the first of three flights that would take them to Japan. She was part of the "Malkia Strikers" team with Japheth Munala as head coach that competed in Tokyo at the 2018 Women's world championships. [4]
In 2019 Kenya women won the Volleyball at the 2019 African Games [5] and Mukuvilani was on the team. [6] In that year she transferred from the Kenya Prisons team to the KCB team. She did well and within two years she became the KCB team's captain. [7]
In 2021 she and Lorine Chebet were chosen as the middle blockers by Head coach Paul Bitok in a twelve woman team to compete at the postponed 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. It was the first time that Kenya had qualified since 2003. Bitok chose a similar team to the one that competed at the 2019 FIVB Volleyball World Cup as it had eight players in common. These were Makuvilani, Jane Wacu, Emmaculate Chemtai and Sharon Chepchumba, Mercy Moin, Leonida Kasaya, Lorine Chebet and Agripina Kundu. The team were trained additionally by Luizomar de Moura of Brazil. [6] The Kenyans lost their first match against the home team of Japan. [8]
In 2024 she was in the KCB Bank volleyball team. Japheth Munala became the national team's head coach as Bitok had joined the team's management. Munala again chose Mukuvilani for that year's Africa Volleyball Federation qualifiers. [9]
Kenya qualified again for the Olympics in 2024 and Makuvilani again made the team to go to Paris. [10]
The Japan women's national volleyball team, or All-Japan women's volleyball team, is currently ranked 7th in the world by FIVB. The head coach is Masayoshi Manabe.
The Kenya women's national volleyball team, the Malkia Strikers, represents Kenya in international volleyball competitions. Kenya has dominated the African continent since the 1990s, winning the Women's African Volleyball Championship a record of ten times. They have qualified four times for the Olympics; in 2000, 2004, 2020 and 2024.
Jane Wacu Wairimu is a Kenyan volleyball player. She is part of the Kenya women's national volleyball team as a setter. She participated at the 2010 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, and at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup. She played with VBC Chamalières.
Mercy Moim is a Kenyan volleyball player. She played with the Kenya national team in the 2010 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship. She was team captain for the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Brackcides Agala Khadambi is a Kenyan female volleyball player. She was captain of the Kenya women's national volleyball team and she competed in beach volleyball at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Catherine Mabwi is a Kenyan female volleyball player, and coach. She was the coach at Mpesa Foundation Academy.
Agripina Kundu is a Kenyan volleyball player, playing as a libero. She is part of the Kenya women's national volleyball team.
Leonida Kasaya is a Kenyan volleyball player. She is part of the Kenya women's national volleyball team.
Andrea Carrie "Annie" Drews is an American professional volleyball player for the United States women's national volleyball team. Drews was elected as the Most Valuable Player of the 2019 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League in Nanjing, China, where Team USA won the gold medal and the Best Opposite of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup where the U.S. finished in second place. She won gold with the national team at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Triza Atuka is a Kenyan volleyball player. She is part of the Kenya women's national volleyball team. At club level she plays for the Kenya Pipeline Company team. In 2016, the Kenya Volleyball Federation awarded her their female Most Valuable Player award.

Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the nation's fifteenth appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in 1956, having boycotted the 1976 Montreal and 1980 Moscow Games.
