Volleyball and beach volleyball at the 2019 African Games were held from 16 to 31 August 2019 in Salé, Morocco.
Indoor volleyball was held from 22 to 31 August and beach volleyball was held from 16 to 21 August.
The beach volleyball event served as a qualifier for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

The 10th All-Africa Games took place between September 3–18, 2011 in Maputo, Mozambique. Maputo's hosting marked the third time the Games was held in the southern part of the continent.
The African Handball Confederation is the administrative and controlling body for African team handball. Founded on 15 January 1973 after the 2nd All-Africa Games in Lagos (Nigeria), it represents the national handball associations of Africa under the supervision of the International Handball Federation (IHF).
The Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA) is the governing body of badminton in Africa. It is one of the 5 continental bodies under the flag of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). It now has 46 member countries and 2 associate members.
The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa is an international organization that unites the 54 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of Africa. It is currently headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria. It serves as the successor to Standing Committee of African Sports or Comité permanent du sport africain founded in 1965 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
The 2010 African Championships in Athletics was held in Nairobi, Kenya from, 28 July to 1 August 2010.
Teams will compete in the sub-zonal tournaments, with all teams advancing, with each team carrying over the points it earns to the five zonal tournament, where teams not entered in the sub-zonal tournaments can enter. The top four teams in each group will advance to the second zonal round where teams are mixed. The top 2 teams from the second zonal round will advance to the continental cup. The winner of the 2010–12 Continental Beach Volleyball Cup will advance to the Olympics 42 out of a 53 possible nations entered.
The 11th African Games took place from September 4–19, 2015 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. This edition marked the 50th anniversary of the Games, as well as their return to Brazzaville, which hosted the first edition in 1965.
The 2012 Africa Cup was the twelfth edition of the Africa Cup, an annual international rugby union tournament for African nations organised by the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR). The tournaments between 2012 and 2014 will also serve as qualifiers for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
The 2nd African Youth Games took place in Gaborone, Botswana's capital city from 22 to 31 May 2014. The Games featured approximately 2000 athletes from 51 African countries competing in 21 sports. Gambia, Eritrea and Mauritania were the only African countries absent from the Games.
The 3rd African Youth Games took place in Algiers, Algeria from 18 to 28 July 2018. The Games featured approximately 3,300 athletes from 55 African countries who competed in 30 sports. Algiers was awarded the games by Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa in 2014.
Botswana competed at the 2019 African Games held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. In total, 103 athletes represented Botswana at the games. Athletes representing Botswana won five gold medals, three silver medals and six bronze medals and the country finished in 13th place in the medal table.
Mozambique competed at the 2019 African Games held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. In total, athletes representing Mozambique won one gold medal, three silver medals and one bronze medal and the country finished 23rd in the medal table.
Boxing at the 2019 African Games was held from 20 to 29 August 2019 at the Al Amal Indoor Sports Center in Rabat, Morocco.
Tennis at the 2019 African Games was held from 23 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco.
Swimming at the 2019 African Games was held from 21 to 24 August 2019 in Casablanca, Morocco.
Cycling at the 2019 African Games was held from 21 to 29 August 2019 in Casablanca, Morocco. Mountain biking was held from 21 to 23 August 2019, while road bicycle racing was held from 24 to 29 August 2019.
Judo at the 2019 African Games was held on 17 and 18 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco.
Karate at the 2019 African Games was held from 24 to 26 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco.
The 2019 African Beach Games were the inaugural edition of the international beach sports competition between the nations of Africa, organised by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA). The first Games were held on the island of Sal, Cape Verde in June 2019.
The 2018–2020 CAVB Beach Volleyball Continental Cup were a beach volleyball double-gender event. Teams representing African countries were split into groups of four, where an elimination bracket determined the 2 teams to advance to the next stage from the sub-zones. The winners of the event qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
