3x3 basketball

Awa Jawara, Aminata Jobe, Yassin Jaal Mboob and Adam Touray competed in 3x3 basketball in the women's tournament. [1] The team reached the quarterfinals. [1]

Athletics

Gina Bass won the silver medal in the women's 100 metres event. [2] [3] She also won the gold medal in the women's 200 metres event. [3] [4]

Fatou Sanneh also competed in the women's 100 metres and women's 200 metres events. [3] In both events she qualified in the heats to compete in the semifinals and in both events she did not qualify to compete in the final. [3]

Ebrahima Camara, Adama Jammeh and Sengan Jobe competed in the men's 100 metres event. [3] Jobe did not advance to compete in the semifinals. [3] Jammeh reached the semifinals and Camara reached the final. [3] Camara finished in 7th place in the final. [3]

Judo

Two athletes competed in judo: Adbdourahman Ceesay (men's −81 kg) and Omar Jobe (men's +100 kg). [5] [6] They were both eliminated in the first round. [5] [6]

Swimming

Momodou Lamin Saine and Ebrima Sorry Buaro competed in swimming. [7] [8]

Saine competed in the men's 50 metres breaststroke event and in the men's 100 metre breaststroke event. [7]

The Gambia competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, which was held from 27 July to 12 August 2012. The country's participation at London marked its eighth appearance in the Summer Olympics since its début at the 1984 Summer Olympics. The country's participation at Rio marked its ninth appearance at the Summer Olympic Games since its début at the 1984 Summer Olympics. The delegation included two track and field athletes, Adama Jammeh and Gina Bass, who both qualified after meeting the qualification standards for their respective events, one judoka, Faye Njie, who made the Games through a quota place and one swimmer, Pap Jonga, who earned a universality place to enter the Games. The Gambia made their début appearances in the judo and swimming events. Bass was selected as the flag bearer for the opening and closing ceremonies. All four athletes were eliminated from the first rounds of their events.
