In January 2019, it was announced that snooker would be included as a medal event at the 2019 African Games. [1]

Five countries were scheduled to compete in snooker but competitors from Algeria and Tunisia did not start in their events. [2]

Africa Cup of Nations African association football tournament for mens national teams

The CAF Africa Cup of Nations, officially CAN, also referred to as AFCON, or Total Africa Cup of Nations after its headline sponsor, is the main international men's association football competition in Africa. It is sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and was first held in 1957. Since 1968 it has been held every two years, switching to odd-numbered years in 2013.

Unlike Algeria's previous successes in the Summer Olympics, it has failed to secure its single medal as a result of their poor, athletic performance.

Morocco competed at the 2019 African Games held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. This is the first time that Morocco hosted the competition. It is also the first time since the 1978 All-Africa Games that Morocco took part in the competition after being banned. In total, athletes representing Morocco won 31 gold medals, 32 silver medals and 46 bronze medals and the country finished in 5th place in the medal table.

On 17 August, judo events began two days before the opening ceremony on the first day, Algeria achieved 9 medals, including two gold medals by Wail Ezzine in weight 66 kg and Faïza Aissahine in weight 52 kg. On the second and last day were content with only two medals silver and bronze.

Athletes representing the country won 102 gold medals, 98 silver medals and 73 bronze medals and the country finished 1st in the medal table.

Badminton events at the 2019 African Games took place between 22 and 29 August at the Ain Chock Indoor Sports Center in Casablanca, Morocco. The badminton program in 2019 included men's and women's singles competitions; men's, women's and mixed doubles competitions alongside a mixed team event throughout the eight days of competition. The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
