Edmonton Nighthawks FC is a floorball club based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is one of three floorball clubs based in the province of Alberta, and is a member of the Alberta Floorball League (EFUL).

Contents

History

Founded in 2007, the E-Town Elite Floorball Club was the first floorball club in the province of Alberta, and one of only few in the entire country of Canada. In 2008, the club decided to take part in the inaugural EFUL season, and it played its first official match in 2009, against River City IBK.

For the 2009–10 season, the club has changed its name to Edmonton Nighthawks Floorball Club.

AIK Innebandy is a Swedish floorball club and a department of AIK. The men's team played in Sweden's highest division, SSL, from the year 2000, but was relegated to Herrar Allsvenskan Norra in 2018 after ending the season 2017/2018 as second last. AIK won their first championship in 2006 when they defeated Pixbo Wallenstam IBK in the SSL final. In 2009 they won their second championship, beating Warberg IC in the final. The team is back in Sweden’s highest division SSL the season 2022/2023.

The Champions Cup is floorball tournament organized by the International Floorball Federation for the best clubs from the top four countries according to IFF World Ranking. As of 2023, those are Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, both for men and women. The tournament takes place every year in January both for men's and women's teams, that won in the previous season in their national leagues. Those are Finnish F-liiga, Swedish Svenska Superligan, Czech men's Superliga florbalu and women's Extraliga žen ve florbale and Swiss Unihockey Prime League. That means, there are eight teams in the tournament in total. Since 2024, winners of national cups will also attend. The competing countries alternate in hosting the tournament. The event lasts two days.
