EduCARE India stands for 'Education & Community Applied Research Establishment in India', a community development institutional organisation that has been working with local communities and young talented students from higher education institutions / universities such as Panjab University, Chandigarh and Central University of Himachal Pradesh [1] and other international universities to conduct community based education and applied research, organisation of seminars, conferences, exhibitions and an international internship and exchange program along with AIESEC [2] [3] [4] [5]

Area of work

EduCARE India develops new concepts and strategies in the field of localisation of sustainable and regenerative development through community education, applied research and social innovations in India.

The organization’s novel efforts are towards the social action and transformation through capacity building at the local level that involves the integration of socio-political, environmental, governmental, and political domains of sustainable development.

The focus areas of work includes marginalised community empowerment, women's education and empowerment, sustainable social microfinance, rural waste management, renewable energies, organic farming, forestation and wildlife conservation.

Project GlobalPEACE

Its Project GlobalPEACE (Global Perspectives through Education & Cultural Exchange) engages volunteers from foreign countries for international internship in India through its international internship programme in India and Indian interns from Indian universities to promote peace, global citizenship and global perspectives in Indian students and youth. SEHAT SEVA Abhiyan

SEHAT SEVA Abhiyaan is an innovative initiative responding to elderly needs by attempting to promote their optimal level of health and well-being and to assist them in remaining home, avoiding frequent doctor visitations, hospitalization, or admission to long-term care institutions, thereby improving their greater independence, comfort, and dignity of life. AapdaPAR

Aapda Prepared, Aware and Resilient communities is an initiative of EduCARE India supporting and networking with disaster management authorities to create a disaster prepared, aware and resilient communities through research, disaster planning, education, training and capacity building through developing task force of volunteers. [11]

BAGEECHA

BAGEECHA (Botanical Applied Gardens for Ecological Enhancement and Climate CHange Adaptation) / Plastic Free Temples / Botanical Gardens – Preserve the environment through our by drawing upon the wisdom and experience of our revered elders to ensure sustainable practices for future generations. [12]

Panjab University (PU) is an Indian collegiate public state university located in Chandigarh. Funded through both State and Union governments, it is considered a state university. It traces its origins to the University of the Punjab in Lahore, which was founded in 1882. After the partition of India, the university was established on 1 October 1947, and called East Punjab University. Initially housed primarily at a cantonment in Solan, it later relocated to a newly built campus in Chandigarh, and was renamed Panjab University. Sevā, in Hinduism and Sikhism, is the concept of selfless service that is performed without any expectation of reward for performing it. Such services can be performed to benefit other human beings or society. Sevā means "service". A more recent interpretation of the word is "dedication to others". In Hinduism, it is also known as karma yoga, as described in the Bhagavata Gita.

Youth United was founded in 2006, with Society welfare in view, by Jyotindra Nath, then a student of Panjab University, Chandigarh, India.

The Panjab Digital Library is a voluntary organization digitizing and preserving the cultural heritage of Panjab since 2003. With over 65 million digitized pages, it is the biggest resource of digital material on Panjab. There are many historically significant documents stored and made available online. Its scope covers Sikh and Punjabi culture. The library funded by The Nanakshahi Trust was launched online in August 2009. Its base office is located at Chandigarh, India.

Mandi is a major city and a municipal corporation in Mandi District in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated 145 kilometres (90 mi) north of state capital, Shimla in the north-west Himalayas at an average altitude of 880 m (2,890 ft) Mandi is connected to the Pathankot through National Highway 20 and to Manali and Chandigarh through National Highway 21. Mandi is approximately 184.6 km (114.7 mi) from Chandigarh, the nearest major city, and 440.9 km (274.0 mi) from New Delhi, the national capital. In the 2011 Indian census, Mandi city had a population of 26,422. Mandi district is currently the 4th largest economy in the state. Panjab University Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre (PUSSGRC) in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India, is an integral part of Panjab University, Chandigarh.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Harkishan Singh</span> Indian pharmaceutical chemist

Harkishan Singh was Professor Emeritus at the Panjab University. He was a well recognized pharmaceutical academic, medicinal chemistry researcher and science historian. He had more than half a century experience in his respective fields to his credit. He worked at the Banaras Hindu University, University of Saugar, and the Panjab University in India, and abroad at the University of Maryland, University of Mississippi and the University of London.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kamal Jit Singh</span> Retired Lieutenant General, Indian Army

Lieutenant General Kamal Jit Singh, PVSM, AVSM & Bar is a retired Indian Army officer and former general officer commanding-in-chief of Western Command. After retirement, he was conferred with Maharaja Ranjit Singh Chair of Excellence in Punjab University. and was appointed as Advisor to CM Haryana in November 2018. He graduated from the National Defence Academy, and attended various staff courses in training academies of the Indian Army throughout the country. Singh worked closely with UN Peacekeeping forces stationed in Angola and was commended by the chief and UN Force Commander during his tenure. He held several appointments as commanding officer and also staff appointments at the headquarters of the Indian Army. He has been twice awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. In 2019, Singh was appointed as State Information Commissioner and was inducted into Chandigarh Advisory Council. He was nominated as Chairman of Education Standing Committee of UT Advisory Council in 2022. He was awarded Ph D in Defence Studies in Oct 2023. He was conferred with designation of Honorary Professor in PU in Sep 23 and as Prof of Practice in Chandigarh University in Oct 23.

University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), established in 2008 under the aegis of the Panjab University, Chandigarh is one of the top MBA college in city. UIAMS offers management education to professional managers as specialized full-time MBA programmes. It is one of the business schools in India which started offering sectoral MBA programmes supplemented with specialization in core functional areas of management.

Ritesh Arya is an Indian geologist known for finding water at multiple locations in the high-altitude cold and mountainous desert of Ladakh, including the Siachen Glacier, which has made him a Guinness World Records holder. In 2014 he was Director Water and Geothermal Section at the International Sustainable Energy Organization (ISEO).

<i>Admitted</i> 2020 Indian film

Admitted is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language docudrama film directed by Chandigarh-based director Ojaswwee Sharma. The film is about Dhananjay Chauhan, the first transgender student at Panjab University. The role of Dhananjay Chauhan has been played by Dhananjay herself.
