Edward Hain Hospital is a health facility in Albany Terrace, St Ives, Cornwall, England. It is managed by Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

History

The facility was commissioned as a memorial to Captain Edward Hain, [lower-alpha 1] who had died in the First World War. [1] It was established by converting a large private property in Albany Terrace and it opened in 1920. [1] It joined the National Health Service in 1948. [2] It closed temporarily due to fire safety issues in 2016 but then re-opened in 2019 as part of a pilot programme to provide facilities for local people who have recently been discharged from hospital. Sir Edward Hain, was an English shipping magnate and politician from Cornwall, England. He represented St Ives as a Liberal Unionist from 1900 to 1904, and as a Liberal from 1904 to 1906. His shipping company, Hain Line, was sold to the recently merged Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company and British-India Steam Navigation Company after his death.

Eastern Niagara Hospital was the name created to cover a pair of hospitals founded in the early 1900s in Lockport and Newfane, New York that each operated independently. Under cost pressures they were both operated under the Eastern Niagara Health System (ENHS) umbrella. ENHS also operates a nursing home. In 2019 The New York Times portrayed Eastern as among the least likely to overcharge, yet they were facing cost pressures.
