Edward Yakobe Sawerengera is a Malawian diplomat and agronomist who formerly served as the Malawian ambassador to Brazil,the United States,the Bahamas,Canada,and Mexico.
He attended the University of Malawi and obtained a degree in agriculture in 1975. Sawerengera started his agribusiness career by working for the state agricultural marketing agency,Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) where he worked for twenty years. He went to graduate school in Scotland where he attended Strathclyde Graduate Business School and obtained an MBA in 1997. He later worked in other agricultural management roles which included working as CEO for Malawi Social Action Fund,National Food Reserve Agency,and deputy CEO for David Whitehead and Sons.
He served as Director General for State Residences under President Bingu wa Mutharika. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Sawerengera was appointed as ambassador to Brazil in 2014. He moved to the U.S. in 2016 when was appointed as Ambassador to the U.S. He was also credentialed for the Bahamas,Canada,and Mexico in that post. His tour ended in 2018. However,after a lengthy dispute over the terms of his relocation benefits with the government and the COVID-19 pandemic,he left the US in 2021. [3] [4] [5] [6]
He was married to educator,Dr. Margaret Asalele Mbilizi who died in 2019. [7]

Vera Kamtukule was appointed Minister of Tourism on 31 January 2023. Until her current appointment Vera served as the Minister of Labour since 26 January 2022 and as deputy Minister of Labour following the 2020 Malawian presidential election. In 2021 Vera Kamtukule assumed her role as Chair of the SADC Employment and Labour Sector.
John Nyanga was a Malawian comedian and actor better known by his stage name as Izeki. He rose to fame after associating with Kwathu Drama Group in which he was in the part of the duo ‘Izeki ndi Jacobo’. He was also a pastor at Synagogue of Hope Church in Blantyre. He died in 2016 on Sunday at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre after a long illness. He partnered with Eric Mabedi in Izeki ndi Jakobo plays.
Eric Mabedi was a Malawian comedian and actor better known by his stage name as Jakobo. He gained national recognition after associating with Kwathu Drama Group in which he was in the part of the duo ‘Izeki ndi Jacobo’. He died on Monday,2 August 2021,at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre due to COVID-19. He partnered with John Nyanga in Izeki ndi Jakobo plays. He came from Thumbwe village in Chiradzulu district. He was also associated with Bon Kalindo who is popularly known as Winiko.

Kwathu Drama Group is a Malawian oldest drama group mainly composed of Eric Mabedi and John Nyanga,who died in 2021,that started in 1980. Mabedi died in 2022 after suffering from severe kidney damage. In 2020,the ensemble blamed the hospitality industry of Malawi for not supporting,improving and upgrading the status of stage performances in the country. In 2013,Kwathu Drama took campaigns against inequality in the country about the LGBQ.
Alleluya Band is an oldest Malawian music group founded by Paul Banda his brother Lucius Banda from Balaka. The band started and rose to fame in 1970s. The band's current leader is Coss Chiwalo. In 2021,the group released their 13th album in May. In 2018 and 2019,the band visited Rome and met with Pope Francis for Panama for World Youth Day. In 2020,after the band embarked from Italy,they were quarantined due to Covid-19. The band has also shared stage with different artists such as Skeffa Chimoto and Dan Lufani.

He is also the senior pastor and the founder of the Glorious Light International Church,which is headquartered in Lilongwe and has written several books on spirituality and leadership. He is the founder of Simama Hotel located in the capital Malawi.
