Edwin Bibiano Abath (born 2 December 1958) is an Aruban politician and former singer who served as Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba from 1 November 2009 to 13 November 2013. [1] From 1999 until 2005 he was a Member of Parliament for the Aruban People's Party in the Estates of Aruba. He represented Aruba as a singer in the 1988 OTI Festival. [2]
Abath was born in Aruba,one of the Caribbean islands of the Lesser Antilles and a country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. After he finished havo on Aruba,he went to Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands to study logopaedics. He practised as a logopaedic at Dr. Horacio E. Oduber Hospital in Aruba. [2]
In 1988 he collaborated with Venezuelan pop singer Devorah Sasha in the single "Simplemente Así" sung in both English and Spanish.
Aruba is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands physically located in the mid-south of the Caribbean Sea,about 29 kilometres (18 mi) north of the Venezuelan peninsula of Paraguanáand 80 kilometres (50 mi) northwest of Curaçao. It measures 32 kilometres (20 mi) long from its northwestern to its southeastern end and 10 kilometres (6 mi) across at its widest point. Together with Bonaire and Curaçao,Aruba forms a group referred to as the ABC islands. Collectively,these and the other three Dutch substantial islands in the Caribbean are often called the Dutch Caribbean,of which Aruba has about one-third of the population. In 1986,it became a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands,and acquired the formal name the Country of Aruba.
Nelson Orlando Oduber is an Aruban politician who served as the 2nd Prime Minister of Aruba. Following his defeat in the 2009 Aruban general election,Oduber retired from politics.
Gilberto François "Betico" Croes was an Aruban political activist who was a proponent for Aruba's separation from the Netherlands Antilles. This eventually occurred in 1986,but following a car accident on 31 December 1985,Croes lapsed into a coma and never became conscious to see his accomplishment. He is best remembered as "Libertador" (liberator) and as father of the Aruban people.
Aruba sent a delegation to compete at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens,Greece from 13 to 29 August 2004. The delegation's participation in the Athens Olympics marked Aruba's fifth appearance at the Summer Olympics since the Dutch colony's debut at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul,South Korea. Four athletes competed across three sports. None of the track or swimming athletes advanced past the first round in their events,and as of Athens,no Arubans had medaled in any events. Roshendra Vrolijk bore Aruba's flag at the ceremonies.
Same-sex marriages are not performed in Aruba,Curaçao,or Sint Maarten,which are constituent countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The islands were obliged after several court rulings to register any marriage registered in the Kingdom,but this primarily considers residency rights and they do not have to give same-sex marriages the same legal effect as opposite-sex marriages. As marriage in the European territory of the Netherlands,as well as in Bonaire,Sint Eustatius and Saba is open to any two people,marriages performed there have to be registered in the islands.
Aruba first competed at the Olympic Games in 1988,and has participated in each Summer Olympic Games since then. Aruba has yet to win any Olympic medals.
Francisco Walfrido "Frido" Croes was an Aruban politician and schoolteacher who held the office of Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba from 2005 to 2009. Prior to that,he served as a member of the Estates of Aruba from 1989 to 1994,and as its President from 2001 to 2004. He also served as Minister of Education from 2004 to 2005.
Jan Hendrik Albert "Henny" Eman was an Aruban politician and founder of the Aruban People's Party who led the movement for Aruba's autonomy from Curaçao. His grandson went on to become the first Prime Minister of Aruba.

Juan Alfonso Boekhoudt is an Aruban politician serving as the Governor of Aruba since 1 January 2017. He previously served as Minister Plenipotentiary from 14 November 2013 to 17 November 2016.

Pauldrick François Teodoric"Paul"Croes is a former Aruban politician who served as the Minister of Social Affairs,Youth and Labor in the Second Eman Cabinet from 2013 to 2017. As a member of the Aruban People's Party,he was a member of the Parliament of Aruba between 2009 and 2013.
General elections were held in Aruba on 22 November 1985 to elect the Island Council. They were held shortly before Aruba was split from the Netherlands Antilles and obtained the status of a 'land' (country) within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Island Council was converted into the first Estates of Aruba on 1 January 1986.
