Egis is an international company active in the consulting, construction engineering and mobility service sectors that design and operate intelligent infrastructure and buildings. Egis operates in 120 countries and has 18,000 employees. [1]

In the global Engineering News-Record (ENR) ranking, Egis is given the 1st position in France and the 8th position globally in the Transportation sector. Overall, Egis is ranked 21st within the top Global Design Firms.

History

In January 2022, Tikehau Capital acquired 40% stake in Egis. [2]

Acquisitions

In 2022, Egis acquired several companies. In the US, SB Architects, the architecture and design practice specialising in creating international hospitality destinations. [3] In the Middle East: Waagner Biro Bridge Services International, an infrastructure engineering, operation and maintenance company [4] and WME, a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancies. [5] In Europe: Weston Williamson + Partners (United Kingdom), an international architecture and urban design firm; [6] AG Concept (France), an engineering firm specialised in cleanrooms; [7] NordSignal (France), specializing in railway signalling; [8] Nebu Transport Services (Netherlands), specialized in the recovery of VAT and excise duties in the Benelux. [9] In Latin America: Payc (Colombia), the engineering leader in Colombian building sector. [10]

In 2021, Egis acquired two companies in United Kingdom: CPMS TOPCO and its operational arm, Collaborative Project Management Services Limited to become a key player in the U.K. rail and infrastructure market [11] and Galson Sciences Ltd, an international consulting and research firm based in Oakham and specialising in radioactive waste management and disposal. [12] In the Middle East, Egis completed the acquisition of Projacs International bringing the ownership to 95.45%. Projacs is a local engineering consultancy and project management company. [13] In Australia, Australian strategic advisory, project delivery and technical services consultancy Indec joined Egis. [14] In France, Egis acquired MT3, [15] a consulting and engineering company in mobility and related applications, and 3 companies in the building sector: Openergy [16] (digitization of energy performance), Kern [17] (organization and operation management) as well as AD Ingé [18] and AD Conseil (asbestos removal, deconstruction & circular economy). In Asia, Egis acquired Sunland (Hong Kong), a consulting and building engineering company with 130 employees. [19]

In 2020, 2 French companies have joined Egis: Est Signalisation [20] a railway signalling works company and Kanopée SAS, [21] a consulting firm in the hotel, tourism & leisure industries.

In 2019, Hong Kong-based engineering firm Inhabit [22] (envelope and environmental engineering) joined Egis.

In December 2022, Egis has started the acquisition process for two companies: New Zealand’s Calibre Professional Services and the Middle Eastern arm of design practice U+A. [23]

Criticism

Involvement in Israeli settlements

On 12 February 2020, the United Nations published a database of companies doing business related in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as well as in the occupied Golan Heights. [24] The Egis Group was listed on the database on account of the activities of its subsidy Egis Rail Israel in Israeli settlements in these occupied territories, [25] which are considered illegal under international law. [26]

The company has approximately 90 offices globally in part due to its acquisitions of and mergers with related safety and security middle-market companies in recent years. As of 2019, it has been led by CEO Raj Arora. The company's projects include conducting forensic investigations of fire accident scenes on behalf of local courts, studying fire dynamics of chemicals with the National Institute of Justice, and working with healthcare associations to stock local clinical practices and hospitals with PPE and other medical supplies.

EY-Parthenon is Ernst & Young's global strategy consulting arm. The firm was established as The Parthenon Group LLC in 1991 by former Bain & Company directors William "Bill" Achtmeyer and John C. Rutherford. In 2014 The Parthenon Group merged with professional services firm EY forming the new entity EY-Parthenon. The move was viewed as part of the continued efforts by the Big Four to move up the value chain from their traditional audit services into more lucrative areas of business, as well as to provide new points of entry to clients.
